What supplies do I need to start raising turkeys? Probably start with 6. They will be babies, so---
I have a 6X8 shelter that's not totaly ready yet.
I have chickens nearby with their own coop and run. They do free range.
I have an extra 5 gal waterer, but not sure on feeder for once they are...
Did my rooster do this?
2 out of my 9 hens have their back feathers missing for a little while now and I have no idea why.
They both seem just fine otherwise.
Any thoughts?
So I have been reading about always giving your chickens fresh clean water, but what does that really mean?
They sell 2 gal, 3 gal 5 gal and I'm sure more and I have them all, plus all of the DIY ones, so giving chickens, other poultry, dogs, cats and whatever else you can come up with, fresh...
I've been getting eggs now since Thanksgiving, and with 7 hens I am now getting 4-7 eggs a day. I have Storeys guide to raising chickens and in the chapter where he talks about eating eggs he says:
"An egg left at room temperature ages the same amount in a day as a refrigerated egg ages in an...
I've read where feeding fishmeal, whatever that is is fed, so how about me feeding the bluegills I catch to my chickens?
My last cat lived on my bluegills.
Of course I'd fillet them.
I'm new to chickens, but the one thing that has caught my attention is how many first time chicken owners FIRST WINTER this is. 2014/2015
That's all, no more--
We all are learning.
And thanks to all for your insite and sharing your experience.
OK, I've only gotten 4 eggs so far, and the first one was without a shell, on Thanksgiving day, then the next two days I got an egg in the morning. Today I was out most of the day and checked several times during the day, and found one when I finally shut them it around 4:30pm.
Just wondering
OK, so I'm new to this chicken raising thing. I've got 7 hens 18-23 weeks old, and if I go out to check on them after they are on the roost, they have developed their order, but what seems kinda interesting is that they sit every other way: head to butt, head to butt, etc.
I thought that was...
I had a feeling that my galvanized, 2 gal waterer was overflowing, so the other day I placed a large galvanized pan under it after I had it filled. The next morning when I went out, the large pan under the waterer was at the same level as the waterer.
I took a picture so you all can see what I'm...
I find this confusing. If the vents stay open in the winter, won't that be drafty?
I have a vent towards that top of my hen house, one on the north side and one on the south side. They are approx 7" X 14" and have a louvered cover on the outside and hardware cloth on the inside. I made them...
Hi,
I'm a new member here from Wisconsin with my first post here.
My question is: How can I switch my forum posts from reading the oldest post first to the newest posts on a thread first.
With the starting topic leading the way?
