Could someone tell me what breed this guy is? He has some brown coming in and has white earlobes. He's only 5 weeks old and is BIG for his age. He came as a "specialty breed". Super friendly guy too!
And here he is at a few days old.
I have Corid 20% powder. How much should I give for 7 week old Serama chicks for minor to medium outbreak. I just noticed some blood, but otherwise they seem fine. They are drinking and eating normally and are not sitting puffed up. Thank you
Is this an ingrown feather? The black curly thing. It's hard and feels like a bread tie, but it won't bend. She is 2 weeks old, and it has been growing since she hatched. How do I proceed in treating it?
This is a 2 week old Lavender Ameraucana chick. This black curly thing on her wing, has been growing ever since she hatched. I thought maybe her fluff was just a little matted from being sticky at hatch, so I left it alone, until today. Upon closer inspection, it appears to be hard, feels like a...
This is my first and only Ameraucana out of 8 that hatched, and I've noticed the feathering growth is rather different than my other various breeds of the same age. All the feathers are slowly coming in and are different lengths and are coming in at different rates. This one is 7 days old. I was...
I had posted this earlier when she was 8-12 weeks old(she's now around 20 weeks old) but got some mixed responses and was unsure of the type of comb she had. At the time, it resembled a blob. It has grown out a lot more now, but I do know it is not a single comb or pea comb. Is this a rosecomb...
My 2 week old EE rooster(I think), is trying to MATE MY HAND!! I get them out everyday and play with them, and he has started jumping in my hand, squats and spreads out lowering himself, and will rock back and forth(the way they will try to balance on the hen). He will clamp down on my finger...

I have some 5 week old chicks that I will be moving at some point into a pen with adult chickens. The older ones are on layer feed and the chicks will still require the chick grower feed. How does everyone do this with the different feed requirements for each age group?
I have a 2 day old EE chick that has just started twitching it's head. She is eating and drinking good, and I have sav a chick in their water. It's almost as if she has food or fluff stuck in her mouth or face. She will twitch her head and then scratch at it with her foot. I'm hoping that's all...
I've read that Guinea's are seasonal layers and figured mine would start in the spring. But, I've noticed that 2 of them have been mating now for about 3 weeks. Do I need to go on an egg hunt? They roam all over the place during the day on 55 acres.
OK...this is crazy I know! But, I have been in high gear raising my chickens, since back in the summer. I have loved everything about them, interacting with them and researching new topics concerning them. I have not gotten tired or complained one bit about scrubbing feeders & waterers, tending...
Eggs #'s 20, 12 & 16. They are all on day 23. Most of the others hatched 2 days ago. These 3 pipped in the wrong place some time early this morning. I chipped away some shell, to establish and confirm their beaks. All 3 beaks are moving underneath the membrane. #'s 16 & 12 must have pecked a...
So, I have a 15 month old RIR rooster with 16 hens. He has been doing his job fertilizing all the eggs for many months now. However, in the last 2 weeks, only a few eggs here and there are fertile all of a sudden. I know it sounds crazy, but I started watching him to observe his mating efforts...
One of my brown egg layers keeps having an egg that the color seems faded or whitewashed looking on say 75% of the egg. More so in the middle around the entire egg, but looks normal around the tips. It reminds me of very dry and ashy looking skin. When I wash it, it brings the color back to a...
I'm looking for Blue or Lavender Orpington's and/or Blue or Lavender EE in North Carolina. 2 roosters/cockerels and several pullets/hens. Will pick up.
Is there a certain standard size breed of roosters that are known for not being overly aggressive? I have had bad luck with 2 now, one being a beautiful Cuckoo Orpington and now my Production Red seems to be turning on me also. My bantams are ok and kept separate, but I want to have a standard...
