Introducing baby emu to their parents

Thank you, I really appreciate that advice and it gives me some kind of time scale too, I had no idea it would be that long but I am sure we will manage, I just want to do this right so no one gets hurt by the adults. It is just a matter of waiting for them to grow now then :-) Thank you for...

Introducing baby emu to their parents

Hi, I wonder if you could offer advice please. I have 3 baby emu which I hatched from eggs, the parents live in my field which is 2 1/2 acres and fenced properly. The babies were reared at home in an incubator and have lived in my conservatory and garden until now, they are around 4 months old...

do i have all of the right information on emu

I have to agree with the posts above, you would need at least an acre for your emu to be able to run around, they can go some distance and quickly too, they enjoy playing and chasing so they do need this space, I would hate to see emu penned in to a small space.

Thanks! Well they are doing really well now, my friend hatched one in her incubator, s/he was the first to hatch, then my first one, then around a week later there came another one, the second one here didn't take to eating so well, preferring greens to pellets, but now, well I can't believe...

    Niacin for turkeys???

I wish someone had answered this as I need to know exactly the same thing for the same reason. One of our turkeys has a splayed leg, about 3 weeks old, I have been feeding him the crumb I would give to ducklings as I thought the higher protein than chicken crumb would benefit it. Does anyone...

Thanks for your reply, I never figured that his food may be off, I shall get him some different food and see if we have more luck with that. Pining turkey

An update, he is eating well on salad greens, bananas and stuff from the kitchen but not his turkey pellets so it looks like he may be a fussy eater.

    Pining turkey

I should add that I don't know how old he is since the auction did not give that information but he seems full grown. We feed him on turkey pellets bought from our local farm supplies. He free ranges and sleeps in a large shed at night, he was offered a perch but seems to prefer sitting on a...

Hi, I am new here, this seems like a great site for info. I am new to keeping turkeys and trying to find information on the internet about them is quite tricky. Anyway, I hope that you can help.
