Cool thanks, we have a solar light in there so hoping that will work too. I am just concerned about it getting to hot in there, but can leave the door open during the day to allow fresh air, an I'm in the UK so never gets really hot. Let's see how they cope with another change

    Bald headed quails - help

Thanks. Last night we heard something near the quail run and think a Fox or cat maybe trying to get them at night and this is freaking them out. So I think we are going to transfer them back into the shed, not so nice for them, but at least I can shut them safely away at night, it is also a...

    Bald headed quails - help

Thanks I have kept them together for another night, what would you class as a serious injury, a cut? Should I be concerned that I am now only getting 3 eggs a day when I was. Getting 4? It I do split them should I put them back into their original pairs? It was over 2 months ago that that...

    Bald headed quails - help

They are raised in two groups of two, one how seems to have an injury on the side of its head, I think I will remove the one that I reintroduced and see if that helps. If it does I may then have to get rid of her as I think she is the one causing the issues, they already have loads of hiding...

    Introducing new quails.

I am fairly new at having quails but I got two females and tried to introduce another two and it has caused real issues. If you are to do this I would definitely recommend having a separate pen to start with, but keep them so they can see each other and get use to each other for at least a week...

I have 4 female quails that live in a rabbit run of 12 sq feet, that has shelter, branches, sand the lot. One started annoying the others and peaked one of the others heads so separated them, for two weeks, changed everything around in the run and reintroduced her. Everything was good, then...

Will my quails ever get on!

I think I might know where I went wrong, originally I had 2 quails in the run, then introduced 3 more, learnt the hard way that I should not have done this, transferred them all into the shed but separated by netting, after a couple of days they got into each other's area and where fine with...

Will my quails ever get on!

Thanks I will give more coverage and hiding spaces and see what happens, if I take out the offending quail, do you ever think I will be able to reintroduce. They have got 12 square feet between the 4 of them, I will also get another rabbit cage, just in case I have to separate them. Thanks...

New at keeping quails and can't seem to sex them

Thansk, I am really keeping them as pets, but think I will keep the male in there unless he becomes to much of a trouble maker. Could I breed from them if they (the male and females) have the same dad? as these do.

New at keeping quails and can't seem to sex them

Hi I have got 5 quails and they were meant to be all girls, but now I am not so sure one of them chases one particular hen (i think) around a lot, I am getting 4 eggs most days and she/he crows and doesn't like me much either. I attach a photo, it would be great to see what others think.
