I have a hen (Rhode Island Red) who is getting more and more aggressive towards me too. She's about 1 year old now, I've had her since she was 5 months old. She isn't aggressive to the other 2 hens or my roo, only to me. She chases me and jumps on my legs as I'm walking away, and she stares...
I'm so happy to read that they can make it through a molt in negative degree weather. We just returned home from a trip and my oldest (2 1/2 yr) hen was looking really ragged. I thought for sure that the other 3 were picking on her while we were gone because they stayed locked in their coop...
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've read all of the threads on bumblefoot and haven't seen anyone say they've tried BluKote. My hens all have very early signs of it (just dark brownish/black spots on the bottoms of their feet, no sign of pain or swelling). I soaked each of them for...
I can't imagine an egg within an egg and how that could happen inside the hen? I've recently had 2 XXXLLL eggs (over 100g) and both were just double yolks. Curious...
This started before our mosquitos arrived. He's only with his 3 hens, all of whom adore him (he is "all that"). I'm around them quite a lot during the day and don't see very much pecking going on between any of them. But I guess who knows what goes on when they're locked in their coop...

I've done some internet research too, and almost all of the dry fowl pox pictures I've seen appear to have black spots. His are more whitish and he's had them for well over a month now. His 3 hens show no signs of anything similar, so I don't think it's contagious. Thanks for the input though!
Hi, my rooster got some frostbite over the winter but that has healed up / fallen off. Now he has some strange looking spots on both sides of his comb. He's one year old and is acting normally, no other symptoms that I can detect. I've tried Bag Balm (once) but that didn't seem to help, and...
"Roosters kill toddlers fairly regularly, it's not one of those 'fluke' deaths, for sure."
I've never heard of a toddler/child death by a rooster. Do you have any back-up to support that? I tried a internet search and turned up nothing. I'm sure an attack "could" result in death, but I'm...
Ben was all boy. This is the last pic I have of him before he got re-homed.
Layla is a pullet, so I guess the "devil horn" tail feathers don't give any indication of sex.
