    Blu Kote on Early Bumblefoot?

I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, but I've read all of the threads on bumblefoot and haven't seen anyone say they've tried BluKote. My hens all have very early signs of it (just dark brownish/black spots on the bottoms of their feet, no sign of pain or swelling). I soaked each of them for...

    Spots on my roos comb

Hi, my rooster got some frostbite over the winter but that has healed up / fallen off. Now he has some strange looking spots on both sides of his comb. He's one year old and is acting normally, no other symptoms that I can detect. I've tried Bag Balm (once) but that didn't seem to help, and...

Barred Rock (I think) cockerel - NW Chicago Suburbs Illinois

Nice little guy but he's our 3rd cockerel and we're not even supposed to have 1. :( I will miss him!

    13 week update

Does everyone still think Goldie is a roo, the tail isn't getting very long? Ben is crowing now and Sparky is pretty obviously a roo. Do you still think Yellow, Layla and Fifi are hens? Goldie Goldie Sparky Ben and Yellow Yellow doesn't like to hold still so I did a...

    Is this aggression or affection?

My 7 week old (what we think is a) cockerel, Goldie, is the friendliest of our flock of 6. He wants the most attention and gets it. He also wants out of the run or coop every time I open the doors. I do let him free range when I'm by the coop more than the others, because he tends to hang...

    Tailfeathers look like devil horns

I have two 6 1/2 week old chicks and I thought the black one was a cockerel and the brown one a pullet. Do these "devil tail feathers" indicate the sex? I haven't noticed them on the other 4 chicks, their middle tail feathers appear to be longer than the outside ones, like this:

    RIR with ear tufts?

Now that Goldie is 6 1/2 weeks old, here are more pictures. He now has ear tufts - does that mean he's really an EE instead of a RIR? Thanks, Barb Thanks!

    Do I have all cockerels?

They are about 3 1/2 weeks old. My neighbor is a teacher and they hatched them at school. The eggs came from a local farmer and all but my 6 chicks went back to the farmer. If anyone can tell me what breeds they are, that would be great. Also, do you think they are all cockerels? You've...

    What is this gorgeous chick?

It's about 3 1/2 weeks old, can anyone tell me the breed and sex? It is mostly white and the feathers are tipped with brown, grey and a little black. The camera doesn't do the plumage any justice, it's much prettier in person. Thanks for looking!

    Is this different?

Hi all, I just got my first 6 six chicks and one has a completely different looking comb area. It has the biggest body of all of them, has the largest eyes, and also has green/blue thick legs. I don't know if this is a different breed (was thinking EE but not sure)? What do you all think?

    Hello from IL

Hello from myself and my 6 new chicks (they are about 3 1/2 weeks old now). I grew up on a farm in MI (many years ago) and we had chickens, ducks, geese, pheasants, goats, horses, dogs and cats. But that was a LONG time ago and now that I'm just getting back into chickens, I have a lot of...
