5 Toes, Rumpless, Muff, Teardrop Comb - what is it?

Will do. These two chickens I got yesterday will not eat anything I give them, layer pellets, layer crumble, mealworms, blueberries, leafy greens, etc. I think they were 100% foragers and maybe just scratch here and there. Hopefully they will copy my 15 existing birds habits once I fully...

5 Toes, Rumpless, Muff, Teardrop Comb - what is it?

I did verify this bird has never had tail feathers. It was hatched in January.

5 Toes, Rumpless, Muff, Teardrop Comb - what is it?

Pics added. I did ask about the tail feathers being ripped out and the person I bought these from said it never grew tail feathers. So this bird has never had tail feathers. It was hatched in January from Meyer. Hopefully I’ll get an egg today or tomorrow.

Any update on this thread regarding egg color? I’m having the same problem but have to wait two more months for eggs.

5 Toes, Rumpless, Muff, Teardrop Comb - what is it?

I purchased a chicken today that was sold as an Easter Egger. It’s Black with green sheen, Rumpless, has 5 toes on each foot, has a thick muff and has a strange comb that looks like a teardrop. They said they ordered it from Meyer but also said at one point they had almost 60 birds (with...

    Salmonella outbreak 2018

This is so true. I completely agree with this statement. I don't think sharks in general have recently decided to acquire a taste for human flesh. The more people that come in to contact with sharks, the more people will get bitten. And yes, there is inherent risk in pretty much everything...

    Salmonella outbreak 2018

According to the CDC, you should never wash eggs. Because it pulls the bacteria from the outside of the egg, into the egg. I've been washing my chickens eggs for 5 years, sometimes even soaking them because that's what the recommendation was from Storeys Guide to Raising Chickens. Well last...

In 4 days my Cochin went from healthy to Paralyzed...Please Help

My 7 month old Cochin Rose is very ill. Please Help. 4 days ago I noticed something was amiss with her when she did not join the others to get treats and instead hung back and slowly walked around. She also held her tail down (it almost looked like she was constipated). I gave her several...

    multiple roosters

Just to update. After keeping my roosters separate for 2 weeks but within view of each other I decided to let them mingle. For 2 days they were fine. Then my black roo killed the gray one. Again he has NO Spurs, and they were hatched and raised together and always got along until one day...

    multiple roosters

I agree with @TheTwoRoos. This particular rooster that I have now is as sweet as he can be to me. However, he is flying over a 7 foot fence to attack and try and kill the neighbors rooster that has never even been close to my hens??? It's nuts! It's nuts! I've got him in confinement for...

    multiple roosters

I have had zero luck with keeping roosters. In addition to a large hen house, I have a very large free range "pen" of 10,000 sq feet and then an additional 1.5 acres for free ranging a few times a week. I have 18 hens and 2 roosters. Mixed flock of hens and the roos are from the same...

How long did it take your girls to lay after fowl pox?

Thanks Wyorp Rock. This is actually the second time my hens have had fowl pox. The mosquitoes are awful in late summer here in North Texas. I screened in my coop completely after last year's outbreak but they all got it again this year. I was really hoping to be able to vaccinate them even...

How long did it take your girls to lay after fowl pox?

Want to start a thread to give hen owners an idea of how long it takes for chickens to recover completely enough to start laying again. I got my first egg today after a severe wet pox outbreak (I lost 2 of my sweetest girls). It has been about 3 weeks since they all seemed recovered. I wasn't...

Sounds Weird but I think my Chickens Windpipe is in the wrong place

Okay so long story short but I have a new cochin that is acting dehydrated. So I got all ready with my syringe to give it some water orally, opened its mouth, looked inside and the windpipe or whatever it is was not under the tongue. So I've done this before, always lifted tongue to see the...
