I realize this thread is 3 years old..ish, but my Salmon Favorelle hen is exhibiting the same symptoms. Hoping for some feedback. She hasn't laid an egg yet, just hatched March 4th. Has had some this brown/yellow liquid on her tail feathers. Lethargic. Had droopy wings till I started her on...
fascinating!!! I'll do some research on this! I've never heard of such a thing. Thank you so much! Hopefully this will save some lives! Still waiting on the necropsy results from Agatha to come back. They said it could take a week after her death, unless they need to do more testing after...
I've read that it can live for years in the soil... Their symptoms totally fit it, aside from their bit of sour crop.
Now, time to prepare myself for euthanasia and send out for a full necropsy and biopsy of Agatha's tissues to get the final conclusion on if this is in fact the monster we're...
You're truly a sweet heart. The necropsy showed lesions in the lungs and abrasions in her liver. They fear that she died from tuberculosis, and that Agatha is suffering from the same untreatable death sentence. It explains the 2 dead wild birds I've found in my yard. I'm devastated... My soil...

I forgot to mention that they are both the same age, and bought at the same time and place. They will be turning one in a month or two, so both very young.
I have two hens, a barred rock "Agatha" and a rhode island red, "Ethel". The barred rock, Agatha, showed symptoms first. 1-2 weeks later, Ethel, the red, started showing symptoms beginning with dilated pupils, floppy comb, and sleepiness. No other hens have shown any signs of this illness. I...
My beloved hen Agnes, is needing a new home. She is large, VERY healthy, she's actually the healthiest of my entire flock, she's friendly, yet very feisty... and other than a totally crooked toe from her being 4 weeks old (which doesn't bother her or slow her down at all)... nothing is wrong...
