    South Carolina Egg Selling Laws

Thanks so much for posting this!! Great and thorough job! :) Do you know if you can sell eggs online (like on Ebay or Etsy) from South Carolina? I've investigated this, and all I can find is that as a "Cottage Industry" there are not very many restrictions, other than that in SC you can't...

How long do Muscovy Ducks live?

We found that our ducks were dying of heavy metal poisoning. They will eat metal as large as a big bolt (they think it is like a stag beetle - which is pretty big and hard) They eat staples, wire, screws, nails - all kinds of metal. And a lot of that metal has a zinc coating or other...

GIMP Club- Novices and Experts welcome! Only Animals please!

I would definitely be interested in answering any questions you have on how to use GIMP. Here are some tips: 1. I use "LAYERS" and once you see how easy it is to use, you will too! If it is not already up, type alt/"L" (altogether) and a simplified "LAYER" box will appear. Then you...

Ended Official BYC Contest - Make Over Tudy and You Can Win!!

IMHO, the best way to learn GIMP is to start working on a project that you just HAVE to do or you will burst! That provides the steam to work through all the fiddly-ness of computer programs. When I started learning how to use GIMP, I knew NOTHING about these types of programs, I just wanted...

Ended Official BYC Contest - Make Over Tudy and You Can Win!!

Thanks so much!!! I used Linux Gimp (which is Free + easy to use!!) I first deleted all of the white and used a transparent base layer. Then I added colors behind the top outline layer. And then I used many many layers to add the shadows. By the way, I enlarged the BYC logo too!

Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

Yes, we did do something the next day. She went to the big free-range meadow in the sky. Didn't want to see her suffer. We had just tried to nurse a couple of ducks (ended up being heavy metal poisoning) and they suffered so badly until one died and the other we euthanized. Will keep an eye...

Whats the weirdest thing your chickens have eaten or tried to eat??

Well, I didn't know that ANY birds would eat metal screws and nails - and now I hear a bunch of you saying you saw your chickens EAT the screw, nail, staple or even a piece of glass right in front of you! We just lost TWO Muscovy ducks to HEAVY METAL POISONING . The xray on the second one...

Can Antibiotic laced eggs be used for compost pile?

Thanks so much for replying so fast! So, the chicken with bloody diarrhea is back to her old self - the fact the Duramycin wouldn't fix that problem, does that mean that she would have gotten better if I had done nothing? Should I still keep them all on Duramycin? No other bird showed any...

Can Antibiotic laced eggs be used for compost pile?

We had to give our chickens Duramycin as one of them had bloody diarrhea and was very lethargic. Reading some of the posts on here, I wish I would have consulted the post before starting them on it. This is the first time I had a sick chicken, and didn't want to lose the whole flock. I...

Can I put 5 week old chicks in with 3 month chickens?

Thanks so much for the info - They are doing much better in their own area now. I only had them with the bigger birds for a half of an hour and they seemed like they were exhusted just trying to get away from the big chickens, let alone eat anything. VERY DUMB IDEA!! Won't ever do it again...

Can I put 5 week old chicks in with 3 month chickens?

Hi, I am wondering what to do with my 5 week old Rhoade Island Red chicks. We have other RRI "chicks" which are 18 weeks old now. I had the little chicks (about 6 inches tall) in with the others, just kind of baracaded so that they big ones couldn't get at them. This morning we decided to...
