We’ve had chickens for about 8 years and incubated our first batch of eggs for the first time from our hens this past summer. Up til then, we always bought chicks from our local Rural King (like a tractor supply chain)
well, we have lost every single baby…All the hens…and now only have two...
Suddenly another 6month old pullet is not herself. She was walking funny, almost like she was drunk. She eats if we put the food in front of her and drinks when offered water but stays in the ‘something is wrong’ pose.
When I checked her vent it was dirty and someone recommended an Epsom salt...
Popcorn, this pretty backyard chicken is less than 1 yrs old. She had been limping on one leg for a couple days…then got better. But about one week ago, suddenly can’t even hold herself up on her legs. She ‘waddles’ on her elbows instead. I’ve tried aspirin, I’ve tried Vit B and nothing seems...
Living here in SW FL and our rainy season just started...thankfully. I noticed this hen appeared wet under her throat near her crop but I thought she was just wet. After a couple days, about 3-4 she still looked wet so we picked her up today and saw this obvious issue! I feel like such a bad...
Hope you can give me some direction on how to help Latte, my 4 yr old rooster.
a couple days ago we noticed he was walking odd, like his spurs were bothering him, they were very long. Spoke to our local farm store and they recommended twisting off the spur, please don’t judge, it didn’t bother...
Hen started limping couple of days ago - getting worse so I snapped a picture of her foot and am thinking bumble foot. The circled area is 'crusty'. What are your recommendations? These are egg laying chickens, not pets but pretty friendly. Not sure she would stand for Epsom salt soak (as...
I need advice. My beautiful rooster Mocha lost his voice/crow about one month ago. I started giving him Vet RX in his water, plain yogurt, even put the Vet RX drops on his beak and under his wings and it’s only getting worse. Not sure what else I can do .
We have Daisy, under 1 yr old Boer goat and just noticed today she is limping on her from right leg. She doesn’t want to put any weight on it. I immediately thought something may be stuck in her hoof but don’t see anything.
Thoughts?
One of our roosters, Latte, went form one day fine and the next day unable to use his right leg. This is me holding him. Once I let go of him, he falls down. These pictures are to show you his feet. They seem fine, right? We are keeping him separate from the flock (11 hens and 1 rooster)...
Uno gets so upset whenever I take him away from Flora(momma) and Flora seems to be upset too so we've decided to leave him with her for now. I'm wondering if any brace or hobble will help now or is it too late? he hops around very well and eats, drinks, poops just like the other chicks. I am...
Help - new to this. Broody hen sat on 11 eggs for 21 days and so far only hatched one little perfect chick (named Uno). While in the nest we observed it walking around seemingly with no problems. Today is the first day out of the nest and it looks injured. Maybe feel out of the nest? What...
1) As far as I know, backyard chicken, less than 1 yr old, normal weight
2) Not pecking at the ground, just stands still with her head close to her neck, not extended
3) How long has the bird been exhibiting symptoms? Just one day
4) Are other birds exhibiting any symptoms? No
5) Is there any...
