I have a lonely baby bantam chick and I wuld like to get it some company. I live around the Charlotte area of NC. If you would like to help my poor lonesome baby out I would be greatful.
I just hatched a chick and its umbillical cord is still attached. Will it come off by itself? Mamas gave up on the eggs and this one hung in their. What do I do?
I am a middle grades teacher. I see nothing wrong with the teacher making comments about being pregnant. I also don't understand why she shouldn't be teaching while she is pregnant. This is 2009 not 1970 when teachers had to stop teaching.
I agree with whoever stated "Go to the library....."...
I am a teacher in North Carolina and we have had several students that have already come down with the flu. Seems to me it is going to be a long flu season and a cold winter.
I just have to gush. I have 3 new babies. I don't know which of my bantam chickens is their mother (black cochin or black frizzle), since both laid on the eggs and both take care of them. Also I don't know which of the roosters that I had is their father (golden seabright or OEG speckled...
Here are two roosters that I had until about 3 weeks ago. They would chase us and attack. But they were beauties.
This is Red (Golden Seabright)
This is Bucky (OEG Speckled)
Here is Sis (bantam frizzle). The proud new Momma.
Sis is a Frizzle but I am not sure what the babies (Babies are only 2 and 3 days old), will be since daddy could have been a Golden Seabright or an OEG Bantam.
I have been waiting patiently for my newborn chicks to arrive. I was so happy when I went to my coop and heard the little peeps. I was over joyed. However, when I got a closer look at the chick it looked like it did not have a skull and its brains were exposed only covered by a thin membrane. Is...
I only have 5 bantam chickens and they all live in the same condo (coop). I now have a hen that is nesting with her egg. What do I need to do about my roosters? And what about the other two hens?
My roos are about 4-4 1/2 mos. old. They started doing this about 3-4 weeks ago. I have an alpha and beta male and they get along fine. They even tag team the hens. The alpha (Red) will be in the front and the beta (Bucky) will bring up the rear.
My neighbor boy has caught him more than anyone (they own chickens too) and the alpha roo still chases him. It is the most hilarious thing that I have ever seen, although its not nice.
My bantams started laying at about 15 weeks old. I don't know if you have seen a bantam egg yet but they are small. I would say you will need about 3 eggs to equal one egg.
Also they started laying without the laying feed. I think it was because they are allowed to roam free during the day.
The other day both of my roosters (bantams) ganged up on me and attacked me. The OEG left, but the Sebright came at me again. I hit him hard with my shoe and he came at me again. I hit him hard again and he left. The Sebright chased my daughter across my yard and almost caught her before she got...
