Whew! I never realized how hard it was to get a pic of a chicken face on, so I did a video and did a few screen shots. It's hot here in Texas y'all. Looks like a rose comb, right?
I've attached the list of chickens I ordered, but along the way a few have died.
My burning question is: Is this a welsummer or an ameraucana? I have a blue egg layer that I believe would be an ameraucana, but I thought they both died (but maybe I'm mistaken).
She didn't make it.
I gave her Vit E and Selenium 3x day. In addition, I gave her water about every 2-3 awake hours and mushed food 3-4 times a day.
The very next day she wasn't active AT ALL. I had to force feed her and give her water - hoping she just needed the help to gain enough...
Can someone tell me what they think this 4 week old chick is sick with?
She is one of 13 and the only one currently doing this. She is isolated and has been doing this for about 18 or so hours. As soon as we noticed something was off, we started giving her Save-A-Chick Probiotic and...
Could any of theses be a Dominique? What's the difference between a Dominique and a Maran or Rock?
The reason I ask is because the previous owner said one of them was (a Dominique), but she also said the Sussex laid a white egg which I know for certain isn't true, at least in my case.
Y'all I'm so confused.
These are the hens I have:
Speckled Sussex (Fifi)
Easter Egger (Blanche)
Cuckoo Maran (Bridget)
Barred Rock (Felicia)
Buff Orpington (Ginger)
I'm almost certain the Speckled Sussex is laying the light brown/tan eggs. I see her laying and then there's an egg. I know...
I don't yet know their ages. When we did the walk through of the house today and there were over a dozen eggs. At closing tomorrow I'll ask the previous owners.
Thank you everybody for the comments and welcomes. I love it! I had it almost right, I just didn't know for sure about the orange one.
We negotiated to keep them on the side. I've been wanting chickens for a long time and it's finally coming true.
Hi from Texas!
We just bought a house and 5 hens and 1 rooster come with it. I was wondering if anyone could identify them for me so I could do some research before we move. I think I have a good idea, but I'd like to hear what y'all think.
