A wheaten hen with a white feather in the wing, I know should be bred away from but what is the rule in the show ring? Is it a DQ? May be a dumb question but I want to be sure.

If I had to guess your Blue Wheaten was probably developed out of Blue Coppers at some point. I don't know what your goal is in making the cross but I wouldn't recommend it. But with that being said they're your chickens and you can do as you please with them.
So you think that the slate undercolor has something to do with white showing up then? The reason I ask is because I had a cockerel that I got from a friend of mine that had a white feather in each wing but he had really light almost white under color. I'll see if I can find a pic of him.
Has anybody ever bred females with some black "ticks" in the hackle feathers? I have one with them and have hatched a few out of her. Im curious to see if it corelates to anything in the male offspring. I would assume that the females will have the hackle ticking Im just wondering if anything...
