No cuts or sores, I don't think I see any swelling? She did actually do a little better today, when I went to check them, she was out from under the cedar tree and laying down on the grass with a couple of other girls! First time she's been out in the open since I removed the boys! If you tell...
Hey everyone, one of my Lakenvelders has a hurt leg/foot. I had to separate my Roos and am now getting rid of them. She was a target, they wouldn't even let her eat. She is now started eating a bit and is growing, but walks with a limp. She still sits under the cedar tree a lot and peeps. Hoping...

Hey everyone, we picked up these two little pretties yesterday and we have no idea what they are, I don't think the guy who sold them to us knew either? I'll post two pics of each and would love some help!
Unfortunately I had a similar experience with my two Easter eggers, my sex links terrorized them, I finally caved and gave them away to a large farm where they are now thriving! And my bossy girls are happy to have their coop back! I tried for about 2 months and couldn't integrate them. :(
My girls stopped laying for a while, shorter days up here as well with winter coming. They normally stop for a few weeks when they sense the temperature changing, store up some fat to get them through the winter. So, I put a light in the coop, comes on at 3am and off at 8am... Everyone's back...
Could you ask your friends to take them to their house while you're gone, if they already have chickens might make it easier if yours are in a little portable coop? Easier for them at least.
We got our smaller "Easter Eggers" in August, they were very little.. We lost the one within a week... Once they started to get bigger I have them an enclosed area... The big birds would go by and see what they were doing but nothing happened.... We eventually let them out in the yard together...
I still haven't decided... We're in Canada too, we never had heated coops when I was growing up, but I think I think of my chickens more as pets than farm animals. I don't want them to be warm inside and then cold out, I don't think that can be good for them. We were thinking of having the heat...
Hey there! New to the group and joined as we've had quite a few issues with integrating our chickens! A lot more difficult than I remember when I was a kid! Hahaha we have 4 Horacks (sp?) and 3 Easter eggers. My two daughters just love them to death... We actually had 4 Easter eggers and one...
I have hat same coop, I bought at our local farm supply store... I used it in an emergency and I honestly wouldn't keep chickens in there full time.. Through the winter they would have no where to walk and it needed to be cleaned at least ever second day due to the small area they get. We've now...
