    Feral cat in my run!

I have seen the same feral cat in my neighbors' yards over the past several weeks. It watches us and if we come within 25 feet it bails, so I highly doubt it belongs to anyone. Yesterday when my husband went out to close the chickens in for the night, he said this cat was hanging out in the...

    Hens aren't laying... what's up?

I have 5 hens. RIR, white leghorn, minorca, buff orpington, and speckled sussex. 4 are about 1- 1.5 years old and the RIR is one that I rescued as a stray last summer (she's what got me into this! ;) - no idea how old she is but she's older than the others (I'm thinking maybe 2.5 or 3 years...

Post coccidia treatment, but bird still sick?

And now I'm starting to see her ruffle her feathers and tuck her head again, though not consistently like before. Most recent poop

Post coccidia treatment, but bird still sick?

I have a couple 8-10 week old pullets that I treated for coccidia with some help from the awesome people on here (thanks again! :) ) and they appear to be better. They were treated from Monday last week to Monday of this week and last night I started electrolytes. For a few days their poop was...

    Pullets or Cockerels?

Whew! I feel relieved. My accidental roo is getting louder by the day, I'm not having luck rehoming him and although roos aren't technically illegal I'm just waiting for my neighbors to start complaining...but fingers crossed they don't! Good to know so far this doesn't appear like it'll be a...

    Pullets or Cockerels?

I was told these two were pullets, but because one of my last three "pullets" ended up being a cockerel, I'm hesitant to trust I really have pullets this time around! I've had them going on two weeks, and when I got them I was told they were 10-12 weeks (so today, 11.5 to 13.5 weeks). But I...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

Today she is eating normally and drinking from the bowl on her own. Stools are still small but are beginning to look more like a smaller version of normal poop. No blood I can see with the naked eye. Her crop is still kind of soft, but not as enlarged as yesterday. She's not as fluffed up and...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

I have probably gotten about 20ml or so in her today so far. Most of this is just medicated water as she takes it better than the moistened food. I'm moistening Purina medicated starter feed and giving it to her. Whatever she will take. She has been picking at the food a few more times and is...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

This is the most recent, it is a bit more yellow than before. I also just saw her take a sip from the water dish, which I haven't seen her do in 2 days- hoping she starts drinking more on her own!

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

She is eating small amounts of her food now. Her crop is still squishy and kind of distended. She refused to take more than 2ml last time I syringe fed her. But I'm about to try again.

This is dried, maybe just a bit more yellowish than it was but it looks similar when fresh.

White liquid with an occasional small bit of brown.

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

She is down to 374 g today but I'm still pushing the medicated water and am attempting to syringe moistened food into her (she seems to take the water much better than the food mixed with water). While doing this I noticed her crop is soft. The other chicken seems completely recovered- several...

I was actually thinking of doing just that. :)

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

She's still so tiny I'm afraid it would be too big, especially when I haven't tubed before. She made it through the night, and I got almost 4ml down her first thing. I'm aiming for 4-5ml per hour. Going to do another drench later today too. She's not out of the woods by any means but she seemed...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

She weighs 384 grams (taken earlier today with my postal scale to get the weight for the oral drench). I will get a picture. Unfortunately nobody around here would carry a tube- only one place in the area had the Corid and no kind of medical equipment besides syringes and needles. But I'd love...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

I did successfully get a dose of the oral drench down her. As long as she is not drinking independently, any advice on how much fluid I should try to get in her per day? While she will not take water on her own, she is willing to accept the medicated water (1.5 tsp per gallon solution) via syringe.

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

Thank you for all the help- fingers crossed it works. I already brought my sickest one in and was able to slowly drip about 1.5ml of the medicated water into her with a syringe held next to her beak. I might go get my other too- so far she's had a bit of blood, but her stools are already looking...

Sick chicken- treating for coccidiosis but need advice

Is that supposed to be 1/2 tsp corid liquid per 10mL? I don't have any liquid as it's not available in my area and I can't get it shipped here fast enough. Or is this medicated water mixed with water? I'm confused on how exactly to do the oral drench. I'm new at this, only had chickens for a...
