Yes, I know they do molt, and also, in this case, the only place I see pin feathers is on her neck. There is nothing but little dots on her back where she's lost a good deal of her feathers. I'm just wondering because it's such at a fast rate, and, like I said, I'm not seeing many pin...

We're experiencing a similar thing- one of our Barred Rocks, Ruth, she's losing feathers right and left! There's a bald space on her back, and I'm a little bit alarmed. I've seen her molt before, but this is ridiculous! Every time I pet her, feathers drop! Will she grow them back? This...

Okay, if her abdomen is getting full with fluid, I strongly suggest draining her. At this point, I doubt she's got an egg there. Why on earth would your parents kill your birds? If you're keeping chickens strictly for business, or eggs and have limited space, I guess maybe it could be...

I am not totally sure, but I think yeah, she could still lay eggs. I'm certain our hen who passed away from peritonitis had bad genetics, too. She was a Barred Rock, and never laid even half of what they are supposed to. And her sister now, is showing some egg problems...sigh...

There's a couple things it could be, ascities, or egg yolk peritonitis. We went through a similar thing with one of our hens. I would try draining her with a needle/syringe. If she does have, ascities, she will start dropping weight, so keep her eating and drinking.

Sorry, tifsunkip, I wasn't keeping up with this thread and just saw your post. In draining an abdomen, get a syringe, sterilize it in alcohol, and the gross part, insert it- not too far in- and slowly draw fluid out. There's videos of this process all over. Your gal does look like she's got...
