Here are the latest pics of my Golden Sebright and White Beardless Silkie cross chicks Flourish and Blot (courtesy of my sister). One is a roo, and the other we believe is a hen. Both are bigger than their foster mom the OEGH.
Glad you could find a rooster, I hope you enjoy him. It is nice to know that there are people tha adopt chickens in need of a good home, instead of just ordering one.
Thanks for the advice. What coop/run space would you suggest for 8 chickens? We have a large duck pen and run that used to house the chickens, but we keep them separate because the ducks make a mess( and the coop part is getting old and dilapidated with the woods growing in around it, so the two...
I have one beardless Silkie roo, and five bantam hens, one old Ameraucana hen, (and an Ancona hen inside for bumble foot recovery). My Silkie roo is a good boy and protects the hens, but his two favorites are getting overbred. They have been cooped up in a 6'by 4' coop, with an insulated 2.5 by...
Love your chickens! The Sebright hen in the forth picture and the silver duckwing look like my chickens.
And that Sebright rooster is gorgeous. How does he behave, is he friendly? I don't have any Sebright roosters, so curious about their temperament. They are so stunning.
Beardless Silkie, here is a picture
He is a good roo, just a little overprotective of his hens. Though he only pecks if you pick up a hen and she clucks, or you put a hand in the pen while being out of his line of sight (what is this strange snake-like thing with no human attached? Must be a...
Sorry about your Ameraucana jujubara. Glad to know you and your chickens are enjoying the weather.
I love the spring weather, and my chickens do too. I was at the window and saw them hanging out against the side of the house, and scared my rooster Twinkie by saying hello. He was giving the...
Do you know what hatchery they are from? try calling your tractor supply to find which they order from. Then google that hatchery to see what they have in their bantam mix, might narrow things down.
The one you think is a roo looks like a bantam Cochin.
The last one might be a Japanese bantam.
I think you can search for each thread, and then put a message on them that mentions your bird and say if anyone wants to learn more, they can follow the link ( add the link to this thread) Not sure if this works with the site rules, so check those first.
I wish I could take him, but I already have a roo and need to get more hens before I can get another. Hope you find a home for him, maybe try posting on the VT and Western MA threads.
