    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

Update 3 - unfortunately, it happened again. Her bottom was okay, we had stopped treatment, but then she laid an egg 2 days ago. Now we are back to square one and treating her the same way as before. A question to everybody - will it be like this now until she dies or stops laying eggs? How...

    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

Update no 2 - she is okay(ish)! After a week of treatment, her vent finally went in on Saturday and her bottom looks great! She is eating, pooping, and walking around like nothing happened. The only thing is that she still screams once in a while, it appears when she puts too much pressure on...

    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

A little update - unfortunately there is no change :( we have given her more baths, use the hydrocortisone cream, gave her calcium citrate and it is still the same right now. She is eating and pooping, but still screams everytime she pushes the vent out. It kind of looks like she is trying to...

    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

We don’t live in the US, but in a tiny country in Europe. None of the pharmacies have Epsom here, but it’s possible to order it from some speciality stores. Unfortunately most of the products discussed in this forum are not available here :(

This is the first time I have heard of calcium citrate, but I checked the websites of local pharmacies and they have it, so yes, I can bring that. Unfortunately I can't find magnesium oil, but there are pills which I can crush.

    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

We have given her regular warm water baths since Epsom is not immediately available where we live (you need to order it). After bath, we have covered the area with honey and also coconut oil. Today I brought hydrocortisone cream, which was also recommended in one forum. Unfortunately, vetericyn...

    Prolapsed vent - chicken screaming

Last Sunday we discovered that one of our chickens has a prolapsed vent. We have done everything we could find online to heal her, incl. we put her in the dark, we are giving her vitamins, wash her bottom daily etc. It is now a lot better than 4 days ago, but the prolapse is still there. We also...

    What happened? (advice needed)

Dear all, 2 weeks ago one of my chickens started heavily breathing - she was stretching out its neck to exhale and pulled her neck back to her body to inhale. She also became quite lethargic, stopped drinking and eating, wasn't moving around a lot. I had to feed her myself. We got...

    What happened? (advice needed)

Dear all, 2 weeks ago one of my chickens started heavily breathing - it stretched out its neck to exhale and pulled its neck close to its body to inhale. It became quite sluggish and didn't really want to eat or drink (I had to feed her). We got antibiotics from the vet who wasn't really sure...
