Oh, I’m pretty sure the one eye is gone. I was inspecting him this evening and saw a definite puncture on that eyelid. It was great to see him spin his head around to look at his surroundings.
I’m feeling confident that he’ll be back to his nasty, aggressive self in no time, haha.
Happy update, because things change just that quickly. So I got off work early and ran by the hardware store to get what I need to build my boy a new run. And I sat him in the grass next to me while I worked. He basically sat like in a chicken coma the whole time. As I started cleaning up, I...
Just left tractor supply with a couple wound care options, chicken vitamins and food. Also figured that if he’s going to be setup in a box in my shop, might as well set up for some new chicks too.
As the title states, my roo was attacked by my neighbor’s dog yesterday evening. When I got to him he was clearly in shock so after cleaning him up and treating the injuries, I brought him inside for the night to separate him and keep him warm.
Injuries include minor punctures in his neck and...
Positive, we have a very close knit group of neighbors, plus our boys are sofa dogs. We have a large property that sees a lot of foxes and coyotes, they don’t go outside unsupervised.
So, we got home last night to a dog with a droopier than normal face. Did some research and found that it was probably Facial Nerve Paralysis, basically Bell’s Palsy for dogs. Just got back from the vet with confirmation on that. Though we actually managed to stump the doc with some of the other...
Oddly enough, I just saw an article pop up on my google search talking about using cbd oil to treat ear infections in dogs. I didn’t read the article but I would imagine it recommends using the oil topically around the ear canal and possibly ingested as well.
Knock on wood, our dogs have never...
She’s been on chick grower for since we got her. I think this bag of pellets is the first one, so she’s only been eating it, and whatever she’s foraged for about a week. She had just eaten when I picked her up. And from the descriptions I read, it was in that exact location.
Howdy y’all, hopefully someone has some info on this because I haven’t a clue how to search it on google.
I noticed on of my speckled Sussex hens this evening that she had a strange lump on her chest. She’s about 4 month old, and seems to be just about fully feathered, but the lump almost felt...
So, it seems like it’s been raining for far too long in North Carolina, but now that the weather is back to normal, I can get back to my evenings of sitting with my birds. I’ve gotten used to a few regular birds hopping in my lap or on my legs. The past couple days though, it seems like half the...
Rather than start a new thread, I figure I’ll share two more from my flock that I’m unsure about. I’m thinking they are a couple of Easter eggers, but I’m not totally sure.
Thanks again y’all!
I have 2 of these guys/gals that I got from Tractor supply during chick days. They were the last two left in the pullet bin when I was getting some others and I went ahead and got them too. No one at the store knew the breed and I can’t for the life of me figure it out either. Any help would be...
