I too have heard more stories of strange parents... my own for instance they are very odd.
Let it work till it does not, then handle it accordingly.......
looks like a fun family unit to me.
Argentina is on the list for ski season next year, fingers crossed.

Last week we were at -30F right now it is -8F
To go w/ it we have over 28" at the ski hill
The ladies like their layer pellet mash, we add some hot water each morning.
They like to go out and about in the snow but only for a short bit then back under to coop.
I agree that some like it hot...

Coronado is a sand peninsula with a bridge connecting it to the city.
only 2 road leaving the "island"
Lots of $$ but even more military.
The Coronado cops are plentiful and payed well to do little more than mess w/ folks who may/ may not need it.
Most seem to be x-military and have...
I'm just a dumb guy and have little experience...
My 7 chicken don't get heat till the single digits.
once my inside coop temp reached 7.4F this week I started w/ the 250 heat lamp, it has since stayed around 21F at it's coldest and 32.4 at the warmest.
1 gal would not come out from under the...
Great way to keep snow out of the vents, thanks for that now perhaps I'll try outside
I was considering using sun screen for snow blocking around the coop??
Kind of a way to keep most of the blowing snow from entering the coop, yet still letting the breeze in, gotta think a bit about the sunny...

A 3 year old shouldnt be outside by himself anyway
Are you volunteering to raise her kids?
I think it is great to give kids some rope....
Of course 3 1/2 is older than 3 so this is ok

EDIT
Sorry I guess it just strikes me a strange you would go around telling folks how...
I'd say I'm somewhere in the $400 area??
Figure a roll of 100' X 6' 2"x4" fencing is about $120 here,
hardware cloth about $30 for a 50' X 2 X1/2"
Ckn wire 3' X 50' $20 or so
Reuse as much as one can, construction sites and Cull bins are your friends
Windows and doors $5-20 each used.
Both...
We have 4 cats...
1 inside only, hairless that sleeps w/ Paiger under the sheets and all
1 barn cat, keeps the population down to a dull roar and the horses seem to like all 25 lbs of him
2 inside our garage, for property patrol, these are the one that feed dead mice to the chickens.

Thanks for your response.
I'm looking at a thermo-socket but on at 32 off at 45 seems really high to me.
If I could get one that went on at 0F on off at 20F things would be better in my little head.
Knowing nothing I'll answer....

So it's really worm in MT:cool:, not -60 thats for sure.
At 8AM this morning the coop was at 22F while the outside was at 10f.
There was some frozen condensation on the glass.
I have a red 250 for cold days but I'm waiting for the temps to get in the single digits prior to heating inside...

Well it snowed last night, I don't have a covered run, well netted cover, but not roof.
I knew this was coming as winter always does:D, love to ski so no problems here.
The chickens went out no issues, I think I keep them in the run today for the wind.
when teh yard is totally...
I've also staked doges into holes they've dug and attached shoes or other things they chew on.... ususally works really well.
Ya the same ones crying the loudest about about animal abuse "usually" have the most undisciplined KIDS and pets:cool:

It looks very nice
It looks as if for a little more effort one could have walls that go all the way down to the ground:lol:
I have 6 standard chickens in their smallish (4 X 6 X 6) coop.
I have the space 4.7 acres, yet I wanted something that would "blend",
Looks like I picked the wrong...
Necessity is the mother of invention.
I'd bet the walls have a decent R value, if connected tightly at "seams" may look at some vents cut into their CASTLE......????
Don't go building them a moat ,
Looks like it belongs in a yard too.
Great job.

Not sure if this has anything to do w/ the bees dying.
Corn Meal is a Great way to kill red ants, then eat and eat and eat, get full yet are not nourished.
Their little bodies are unable to digest the Corn Meal,
Now I don't just drive around killing nests but sometimes they gotta go.
