    Are they Goldfish?

Hey, y'all! Long time, no post. Hope everyone is eggcellent! I've got a question... Anyone else ever notice their birds consuming 3 to 4 times they're usual amount of food for winter? Will they eat until they explode? My girls seem insatiable this past couple of months and I'm a tad bit...

    SOOOOO EXCITED!!!

:celebrate So, I had the newbies I bought yesterday in their own half of the run yesterday separated by some chicken wire. They seemed fine eating some scratch dropped between them and The Littles, so I removed the barrier this morning and let them have at it. Other than some minor pecking and...

    I'm suspicious

I purchased these "copper maran hens" today. I was told they were roughly 6-7 months old. Do these LOOK like hens? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

    2 New Gals to Integrate

Hi, y'all!!!:frow So, I picked up 2 six-seven month old (mixed and a Production Red) hens today to replace my 2 deceased wheaten marans:(. I'm going to integrate them with my 5 month old Buff Orp and BLRW hens. They are in separate runs with chicken wire between them so they can see each other...

    Ventura County

Hey. Y'all! I'm hoping to find 2 wheaten maran hens to purchase in Ventura County. I lost my two girls to the heat(?) a few days ago and the yard just doesn't seem the same without them. If anyone has any info on a location where I could acquire some, be it business, private, etc, please let me...

    Heartbroken

Just found my two Marans deceased. No obvious injuries/wounds. Maybe the heat. They were fine two days ago. They had plenty of water/food/shade. Returned today and one was deceased in the coop and another underneath. I'm crushed...

Just need to wire in underneath the coop, and that's it. Besides building another 8 feet of run. But that's not happening for about another month or two... . . . Right?

    First time full contact

So, today is the day for full contact integration. The Littles are roughly 8 weeks and have been outside in their own area for the past two weeks with their food and water right next to The Oldies food and water, separated by some chicken wire that allowed them to poke their heads into the...

    Second half started...

Got the second half of the run started today. Paint and wrap in wire tomorrow (hopefully). The Littles and The Oldies are getting an expansion. This will be the "play area" where they will have a swing, hanging balls, roosts, maybe a "jungle gym" etc...

    When can they...

Hey, y'all! The Littles have been staying in their coop for about 7-10 days now and I put food and water in with them at night. They spend ALL day outside. They are about 8 weeks old. When can (or should I even?) stop putting food and water in their coop? They have NO access after dark to the...

There gonna have to learn to get along...

The Littles have been out in "their" run for about 10 days now. And they're loving it. Now, it's time to start meeting The Oldies. Got the new run butted up to the old run so the two factions can eyeball each other. Keeping The Oldies in their cell in hopes that they're more happy to get out...

    Blue Wyandotte and a... ?

Hey y'all! Can anyone help me out? I'm fairly sure that the chick in the background is a Blue Wyandotte, is that correct? As for the foreground girl, I'm not sure. Is it a Maran? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! P.S. Sorry about the not so good pic...

    The Littles

The Littles are enjoying life to the fullest right now. They have the new coop (98% complete) all to themselves. Little do they know that The Oldies will be relocating there in the not so distant future. Live it up while you can, girls.

    They made it!!!

So, the littles did just fine on their first overnight stay outside. I'm so proud of them! Thanks for the help, y'all! Here's a pic of the girls... One is a Blue Wyandotte(?) and the other is a wheaten Maran(?). I believe... Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks y'all!

    Too cold for the littles?

I'm thinking of putting my noobies out for their first night tonight. They are about 6-7 weeks. They have spent the majority of the their days outside for the past 12-14 days. Only coming in at night. It's supposed to be low 50s here tonight. They should do just fine, correct? Thank you for any...

    Howdy... Again.

Hey, y'all. Been a while since I posted. Quick catch up... My Marans are doing fine but we lost our last Silkie. Now we've got a Blue Wyandotte and what I believe may be another wheaten maran. Anyhow.... Building a new coop to house the birds and found myself reinvigorated for some BYC time. CHEERS!
