Could someone help me out? I am playing around on the Chicken Color Calculator and I am trying to figure out what to plug in for a Partridge Cochin. Thanks!
This chick was hatched January 8th so it is about 4 1/2 weeks old now. I've got my fingers crossed for a pullet. I took over incubating this chick on day 20 when I sold my broody hen who had killed all but one egg so I'm a bit attached to this one. Is it still too early to tell? I know Buff...
I'm thinking about crossing my Splash BLR Wyandotte rooster to my White Leghorn hens. What would the egg color be and what color would the offspring be? Thanks!
I know Marans are supposed to have some feathering on their feet but this is a hatchery chick and I believe most hatchery Marans don't have feathered feet.
Picked up this little one from an unmarked bin at Atwoods the other day. Any clue as to what it might be? I'm thinking Barred Rock or Cuckoo Marans but I'm not sure. Also, male or female? Please help!
I'm not 100% sure that this is even a Barred Rock but I'm thinking it is. I think I see a spot on the top of its head. I needed another chick for a single egg that we had hatch (long story but it involves me incubating the egg in my bra for the last 24 hours) so I grabbed the healthiest looking...
So I have come to realize that my order from Meyer Hatchery for Speckled Sussex chicks was messed up in September and I now have either Welsummer pullets or Light Brown Leghorns. Can anyone tell me which ones I have or will I have to wait until they start laying to really know?
I also ordered two Speckled Sussex chicks from Meyer Hatchery and neither one have any speckling on them. Their hatch date was 9/7/16 so they are 13 weeks old now and are looking exactly like Welsummers. I have an older Welsummer hen and they are her mini me's. I will take some pics at lunch...
I have some 8 week old crossbreed chicks that were given to me as eggs for my broody hen to sit. I know 2 are cockerels and 2 are pullets but I have one I'm not so sure on. I was leaning towards pullet but now I'm not so sure.
They call them "Meal Makers" because you are supposed to donate either their eggs or meat to a family less fortunate and help them make a meal. If you order laying females, it should be another laying female and if you order broilers it would be another meat bird.
I just received my chick order from Meyer Hatchery and received a "Meal Maker" chick with my order. I am hoping someone might be able to help me ID her. I will post photo below. Thanks!
I am really not 100% sure on the exact age of this group of Buff Orpingtons. I am a know-nothing-chicken-novice and was told one thing when we bought them but after a little research I am guess these guys are 14-16 weeks old. I know 2 are pullets and 1 is definitely a roo but this one guy has me...
I believe they are around 9-10 weeks old. I took a few more pictures a little while ago. We are just getting started with chickens so we are learning more everyday. We bought 4 that were all supposed to be pullets.
