Hi everyone, all help appreciated.
My chook lotto has been laying for a week now eggs with no or almost no shell. I've started vitamins and extra oystershell. Today she is really not herself and when I examined her she has a prolapse. I have returned what was outside back inside and...
Again, thank you.
I have had a small amount of success since yesterday.
I built Shug and navid their own sleeping quarters. I usually leave the door open to the roosts overnight to allow them to get up when they like into a secure pen. I've shut Winston and lotto in and let the other two come...
Thank you also for your help. Everyone on here is so helpful. I do find searching for things on the site a nightmare though!
Sorry, the 6/52 is medical chat.
In general these numbers equate to for example,
2/7 is two days
5/12 for 5 months
6/52 being 6 weeks.
As they say, you learn something...
Thank you so much for your advice. Winston was broody 2 weeks ago and in her separate coop for almost 5 days. When I brought her out she was worse!
Should I put her in a run by herself where the others free range or put her back in isolation?
Hello from Scotland! I have recently (6/52) added a partridge and cookoo silkie to my flock of two. I have a large mixed breed chicken and one smallish white silkie.
Things are not settling down at all. I've had to build a small extra sleeping area for the newbies (Shug & Navid) my big chook...
Hi all, my beautiful 3.5 year old silkie hen (Victor) is showing signs of breathing troubles. She coughed/sneezed a few times about 4 days ago. yesterday I noticed that she seems to have a bit of stridor. When she breathes out her neck gets fuller.
I've had a fairly bad mite problem in last week...
Good evening everyone,
I've just received a delivery of woodchip for my 4 feathered friends to dig in. It has a lots of creepy crawlys in it. I was considering spraying over it with virkon s whilst the chooks are sleeping
Does anyone know if this is safe?
Many thanks as always,
Vicky
Thank you everyone for your advice and kind messages, Lotto seems to be ok, she was grumpy when I took her back outside this morning but perked up a bit but then before bed wouldn't eat her bed time snack, not like her at all!
Does any one know the time scale from beak to poo?!
Thanks again
She isn't great, I've checked on her every hour through the night and now I've brought her inside with me.
I can't bare the thought of losing her, she was my first baby
Hi all, my 20month large mixed breed adventurous chicken has just taken a beak full of wood screws and swallowed them whole.
They are 10mm long and very sharp.
Should I try to empty her crop or will this potentially cause as much damage as letting them work their way through?
Thanks
Vicky
