Ok. I've been so busy with the chicks hatching, we helped the last one hatch. She turned out to be a cute little runt. Nine out of 10 is not bad for a 1st hatch. I just love everyones photos of their baby chicks. Congrats everyone!! Here are pictures of our newest family members, hatched on...
This is our first hatch, which we decided to hatch them for Easter. Nine out of 10 hatched using 30 to 45% humidity for 1-18 days and 65-75% for lockdown. We did not use a thermastat, so we had two vent holes to help regulate the temperature between 99.1 to 100.4. We hope everyone had a...
I hope everyone has successful April hatches!!! I'm in lockdown due Friday the 2nd. I have an early bird pipped today! So exciting b/c this is my 1st hatch. I can barely see 3 others have a hairline crack.

Wow! Congrats! You will be over run with cute little peeps. I wouldn't say you lost your mind, if you have the room for all of them. Chicks are so addictive.
Thank you for responding so quickly, ConservaChick and krstms. Something told me to peep/cluck through one of my vent holes and I could hear the sweet sound of a baby chicks chirping!! It shouldn't be long to hatch after you hear them right? I'm like a kid in a candy store!

Thank you for posting your question. Last night one of my eggs was rocking last night and today nothing. It was after I peeped through a vent hole, that I heard a sweet sound of a baby chick chirping. I was wondering how long it takes too after hearing them peep.
I apologize if this has been posted before. Last night (day 18) I had an egg, rocking all over the place, then today, nothing. Is the chick resting or is it dead? I hope s/he is taking a break for the big day. Newbie here and I need reassurance. Thank you.
Day 19. If an egg stopped rocking, does it mean its not good or is the chick resting?Do all the eggs move b/c of positioning themselves before pipping? Newbie here, need reassurance.
This is sooo awesome!!! Just out of curiousness, I clucked and peeped at the eggs. One responded by rocking around!! I will be starting day 19 as of now... Oh please hatch and be healthy.

That is a good idea putting up a barrier to separate them. I think a barrier will work for me if I stagger hatches in the future. Gook luck with your hatching. I'm like a kid looking in the window, watching for some sign of pipping.
Thank you. I will definitely post pictures. Right now the incubator is steady at 100.4 and the humidity fluctuates between 70% to 75%. Eeek...I can't wait! Oh the suspense of it all!

Thank you for reassuring me with your post. I had a 104 spike for who knows how long between 3am to 8 am. Tomorrow is lockdown, so we will soon see.
Tomorrow is LOCKDOWN!!! So day 18 is finally here for me! I'm hoping they will hatch since we had the 104 spike. I cannot see movement when I candled. No space left to see anything. Oh please hatch and be healthy. I wish everyone has a successful hatch for Easter weekend.
