    Hedemora Swedish Chickens

The smooth feathers are dominant and the woolly feathers are recessive. You will need to breed wooly to wooly to ensure 100% wooly feathers. Or you at least need to know that each of your other smooth feathers carry the wooly recessive. Then you need to end up with an egg that has both recessives.

    Woolly Hedemoras

Hi everyone! I am in MA and looking for hedemora eggs to incubate, but looking specifically for woolly. I know that the woolly comes from recessive genes, so looking for someone who has a wooly hen and woolly roo. Anyone know where I can find a good source?

    They will be fine, right?

Hi everyone! I’ve had chickens for years and know they are hardy creatures. Still, I have never hatched eggs in the fall and put myself in a position to have to move them out to a winter situation. They were born October 13 and fully feathered. They have been living in the basement at 54 degree...

She is just out of the egg. I had to peel her out this morning. The others are in the brooder - she is still in the incubator drying off. She’s alone in there. 😢

Thank you! She is out of the egg. I peeled the membrane off of her this when I took her out of the egg two hours ago. She has a sterling to fluff up. I don’t see any deformities. She just seems exhausted and weak. She peeps and lifts her head and her legs cycle around, but it doesn’t seem like...

Help! We started off with three eggs hatched together. Three Easter eggers. One was a rooster. We integrated two more (buff Orpington & RIR), and then two more (golden comet & Black Sex Link), and there was some establishing of pecking order that wasn't pretty, but it didnt last long and they...

A Hawk Is Killing Our Chickens. What should I do?

We just lost our roo, Flower, yesterday to a hawk. I was in NJ for work and received a call from our babysitter with all three kids crying hysterically. All 6 hens were missing, but eventually tracked down. Our brave boy was a hero protecting his girls. I have the girls in the pen now -...
