I had a hen that had egg peritonitis. She couldn't stand correctly and was very sick. I took her to a vet and that was the diagnosis. I have also had white leghorn chicks that developed a type of paralysis. But they were about 4 weeks when it set in.
I have five roosters that are starting to beat up the head honcho, Pappa Roo. I have lots of land for them to roam during the day, but it seems "spring is in the air" here in Central Florida and things are getting intense. Four of the roosters I'd like to rehome are on the smaller side...
I picked her up and felt her crop. It's kinda squishy feeling. I picked up some of the other chickens in the yard and they don't feel like there is anything in their crops and they for sure had breakfast! Can a chicken live for weeks with something wrong with their crop?
I saw that poultrydvm website. Very cool! I did put in her symptoms and it gave me a list of multiple issues.
I have ivermax in a tube. Its an Equine paste dewormer. I could give her just the tiniest pinch of that? I'll check into antibiotics. Thank you!
I have one hen who is less than 2 years old that is not doing well. Several weeks ago I found that she was standing like a penguin so I brought her in the house and gave her a bath thinking maybe she was egg bound. I have bathed her twice and cleaned up her tail feathers. She has not layed any...
I have a young chicken- approximately 7 weeks old. Last Sunday (6 days ago) I found her sitting near the coop. (My chickens free range during the day.) She was sitting while the other chicks (same age) were active. I brought her Inot the house and she cannot walk. She has been In the...
I tried to candle all 22 eggs. Many are very dark inside with a small amount of light at one end. A couple I could see more definition. Have no idea what point of development they are at.
It may very well be that the stopped developing, because one of the nests sat abandonded for many hours on a cold night. However, I figured that some of the eggs may have only been laid a day or two before the broodies left.
I had two hens sitting on eggs in a coop where the other hens were contributing their eggs. One hen had 16 eggs and the other had 14! When the hens got off the nest during the daytime, we moved the eggs to different type of boxes that we could move easily in the night to a separate area. The...
I'm not sure what you are seeing as pus. In the first picture I posted, when I zoom in I do see something over the eyeball itself. Is that what you are refering to?
I brought her in to take a good look. To me it looks like the lower rim of the skin around the eye is torn. These pictures are with a bunch of triple antibiotic on. However, it doesn’t seem to be responding to antibiotic ointments, that’s why I was wondering if it was fungal.
I don't think it's a growth. Its probably irritated from being scratched with dirty toenails. She also rubs the eye against her shoulder, so her shoulder is always damp.
