5 week old chick has trouble walking and eating

my five week old Gold laced wyandotte seems sick. she wobbles around and frequently "bunkers down" and closes her eyes. I have seen her walk around and drink water, but have not seen her eating. she is in a flock of a bunch of chickens so if she is contagious, I need to know soon.

There are two kinds of chickens: one who stares you down; the other, who poses at the site of a camera. It's always better to be the latter.

    Hello Everyone!

I have three different coops at the moment. They are super friendly and its so sweet to see them sleeping at night :). It can be a handful sometimes, but I wouldn't change it fro anything.

    Hello Everyone!

So I've had a Backyard Chickens account for about a year and have never formally introduced myself. Here it goes! My name is Dushane and I have had chickens for about 3 years. My first batch was 8 mixed breeds from my neighbor. Currently, I have 197 chickens from these breeds/varieties: Barred...

    6 weeks

I think they are all pullets. the only one I might be concerned about is the RIR, but the comb is still pretty yellow, so I'm still thinking girl.

Worried Meg might be a Mark

how old is the chicken in question? can you take pictures? Leghorns are known to have very large combs, so it could be a pullet.

    Sex- linked Information

Thank you for those pictures! they are really pretty birds! As far as production goes, did they produce better than your barred rocks or buff orpingtons?

Any takers on what this is?

it being a rooster is definitely possible! He has a pretty large comb for being 4 weeks old. if you notice some earlobes or the comb getting redder, it will be safe to call it a HIM.

    Cream Legbar Hybrid Thread

I have some Cream legbar roo X red and black sexlinks. is there any way to sex them at this age, with the Autosexing trait? here are my outcomes: (I'm not sure what eggs they came from) (some of the white/yellow chickens have faint red stripes)

Dead Leghorn: found with bloody rear end.

she is around a year old if I were to guess. I have a bunch of leghorns in the same coop varying from 2 1/2 years old to about 10 months.

Dead Leghorn: found with bloody rear end.

while collecting eggs this afternoon, I noticed a chicken in a corner of the pen; she was dead. from the color of her comb, it looks as if she has been dead for a few days (I'm not always the one collecting eggs, so one of the children could have not noticed it). there were no symptoms of this...

Thank you for that information! Have you ever tried a Buff Rock over a Barred Rock? I would love to see the outcome!

    Sex- linked Information

I'm not sure if this question has been answered already, but do sexlinks usually have higher production than their parents? I know this is true of standard sexlinks (golden comets and black stars) but haven't read anything about others. also, does anyone have pictures (male and female) of a Buff...

Choose 3 to Breed and Why

I would love to breed cream legbars to SOP and for bluer eggs. they are wonderful looking birds who lay almost every day. it would be fun to see the change in them throughout the generations.

Crossing Dark Cornish Bantams to Dark Cornish Standards.

https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/bantams-what-are-the-genetics.221190/ this thread might help with determining the size, but I have no idea about the improvement of the bird.

    Breed and Gender...anyone?

From the feather patterns and the comb size/color, it looks to me like a Gold Laced Wyandotte roo. Hope that helps!

Buff Plymouth Rock roo x Barred Plymouth Rock hen??

Has anyone ever tried this cross? I know it will be a sex-link, but am wondering about the colors and egg production. From what it seems, standard sex-links (red or black) produce more and larger eggs than both of their parent breeds. Is this true for all crosses? Can I see some pictures of your...
