    High tech incubator controller

So I got busy with a thousand other things and never got around to building my incubator! Hoping to make it a winter project and finish in time for 2021 spring hatching. Great to know about the controller! Wiring it still seems daunting haha, but hopefully I can figure it out. Thanks for the...

    Idaho?

How do you mean? Havent found hardly any breeds I was looking for except Cotton Patch Geese this year in northern ID. Having to ship in hatching eggs or drive to western WA for birds. On a brighter note, just got my first turkey egg today! Still waiting on the ducks and other chickens to step it up.

    Breeding tractors

I also considered doing an A-frame as I have one I use as a quarantine coop. I like that it would shed snow in winter, but not really a concern since they will only (for now) be used for breeding in fairer weather. The bent cattle panel provides the best area for the birds since you can go...

    Breeding tractors

Thank you!! I was thinking on the safe side I could do 10' panels as I have a use for the remainder of the panels, but this would obviously halve the number of panels I have to cut up. I've been ordered to take it easy as I've been doing too much while pregnant, so this project may have to wait...

    Breeding tractors

Not sure if the numbers can be halved for an 8' cattle panel piece, but I'd imagine they'd be close. This will be handy for the walk in duck tractors.

    Breeding tractors

Thanks so much for the feedback and the info about hardware cloth. That would have been an expensive lesson to learn. We have had very little predation (🤞 I didnt jinx it) so far and will hopefully have the pasture fenced with woven wire and a few strands of electric this summer. General...

    Breeding tractors

Hmm having a hard time visualizing what you're talking about. Can you find any similar pics as an example? I dont get the hinged part. Our current hoop style coops will be getting wheels and hitch receivers this spring so I can move them around with our 4 wheeler so I dont ever have to scoop poop!

    Breeding tractors

Cool, I'm excited to start drafting plans/materials and figuring out how many I need. Thanks for bouncing ideas with me.

    Breeding tractors

Did you keep each cock separate or house a few together in bachelor pens? These would double as great chick brooders if you covered the sides in plastic to cut drafts.

    Breeding tractors

Something like this would be absolutely perfect for chickens, just shorter in length probably. I'd hardware cloth the bottom so I wouldnt have to worry about running over any birds or mess with retractable wheels.

    Breeding tractors

Giving more thought to it, I would make two types. For ducks I would make a walk in style with a folded cattle panel so I dont ruin my back. For chickens you could just do a rectangle, but I hadn't thought about the cock needing height to do his business... maybe bent PVC pipes to cut down on...

    Breeding tractors

Yes! Something that would be easily moveable by hand. 4'x8' max dimensions for a trio/quad at most.

    Breeding tractors

Not sure if this belongs in this group or in another, but does anyone use tractors for breeding pairs/trios? I have a lot of space and want to provide them with the healthiest forage/cut down on my cleaning time during breeding season. I'm thinking it'd be the easiest solution for keeping a lot...

    High tech incubator controller

Let me know how you like it and how wiring it goes! I'm probably going to start on the cabinet incubator this winter.

    Duck breeding questions

So you keep the "clans" separate at all times. You answered the one question about breeding season so that was a big help :) can I ask how large your groups are that would cause fighting? I've got 8 ducks and 2 drakes at the moment and will be trying to hatch eggs asap to add more ladies. No...

    Duck breeding questions

I'm trying to come up with some breeding pens for two breeds of ducks. I'm big on giving birds as much space as possible and I've got 3 acres of forested area to do it (for chickens and ducks). I'm still trying to work out breeding pen layouts, so any advice is welcome (i'm thinking clan...

    Breeding pens

I'd love to see this too. I'm a year into birds and want to start breeding/showing them and currently trying to find layouts and such.

Head balded and pecked to skull. How do I treat??

@LittleAppleChicken what ever happened to your hen? One of my lavender Ameraucana juveniles had about a half dollar to silver dollar sized area pecked to scalp. How long did it take for the skin to grow back?

    High tech incubator controller

This controller is $40. I started with reptile controllers, but the digital models are super expensive and the ones I was interested in are only distributed from the UK. Plug they dont have egg turners.
