Dear James,
I don't have quail. I have silkies and bantam Cochins that I would like to make pens for, and leave all the floor space for my Salmon Faverolles, true Ameraucanas, French Cuckoo Marans, and Russian Orloffs. Maybe I should start a new thread. Sorry for any confusion.
I would like to put a couple of pens on the inside wall of my coop to use for silkies or other banties as breeding pens, but am not too construction savvy. I want to have them about 3 feet up off the floor so as not to take any space away from my other birds. Are there plans or photos anywhere...
Hi,
We have magpie, call, and crested blue Swedish ducks. We also raise Bourbon Red and Jersey Buff turkeys, French Cuckoo Marans, Salmon Faverolles, and Spangled Russian Orloffs We are in the Westwold area between Vernon and Kamloops :)
Hi, did you ever figure this out? I would go into Manual mode, Other Birds, then set the day down to Day 2 for the incubation period, because the incubator defaults to stop turning on Day 3. Then when you want it to start turning the eggs after a day, reset the incubator to the correct...
^ Hi, I just split a Performance order with two other people who live close by. We are scheduled to get our chicks at the end of April. Between us, we've ordered quite a few different bantams and heritage breeds. Jason, the owner of Performance, is really good to deal with and very helpful...

Checking in from the Westwold, BC, area (between Kamloops and Vernon). Been a member here for several years, doing a farm-gate egg business with a flock of ISA Browns, and have a couple of white Guinea hens and a frizzle. I am currently selling off my flock of 2-year-old ISA hens so I can redo...
I got two white Guinea hens at the same time I picked up 20 ISA Browns a couple of years ago. They were all around 8 weeks old and there were no problems. I've had various other things in with them, too, including silkies, standard cochins, and OEG duckwings. I really enjoy the Guineas --...

Me neither!
This single mom really has to put down the chickens and go find a boyfriend LOL!!
Preferably one who can build a good chicken tractor!
Update: The broody hen hatched out two more eggs, so she now has two chicks and two more eggs under her. The injured chick is doing much better with eyes starting to open up now. The older chick has spent a lot of today in my shirt pocket and seems to be quite happy with the arrangement...
Thanks, Beakkeeper,
The peep is looking much better this afternoon with both eyes half open now. Hurray! She is still not too interested in the mash mixture. I put it on my finger and she licks a bit off, but still likes the water better. I did put more antibiotic ointment on her head and...
Thanks airheart43,
Yes, she is in her own little ecosystem with heat lamp and heating pad. When she hears me coming she starts opening her mouth and sticking out her tongue to get a drink! She moves around to different parts of the Rubbermaid tub, which is about 12" x 20", and she can get to...
Hi everyone,
I have an injured day-old chick that another chick attacked after it hatched yesterday. Its eyes are swollen up -- one is open a bit and the other is closed right up. Even worse is the fact that its beak was broken off and you can see its tongue.
I have been giving it...
I have my fingers crossed for your other chicks to be healthy and happy. Now you've got your work cut out for you with hand-raising some of them. Bless you and the little peeps!
Thank you both for your replies. I just put the eggs back under the hen and took the aggressive chick out. He's now in his own pet kennel with food and water and is quite annoyed! He'll get over it. He's a super healthy little guy and is getting his feathers.
I put the eggs back just as...
