    Broody Silkie Won’t Quit

Well, her baby is 80 days old today, so about 11 weeks. I’ll definitely try to break the broodiness so she can help the baby integrate. The baby is still so scared of the big chickens.

    Broody Silkie Won’t Quit

I have a silkie that went broody earlier this year, which was fine. We got two chicks from the feed store, one died after the second night but the other is now mostly grown and doing well. Problem is the silkie is broody again but her baby still hasn’t integrated into the main flock still and...

Good to know! I’ll just let nature take its course. Thanks! She’s been laying a little pink egg every day for the past three days already, it’s so exciting!

Pulled just started laying but I have no supp light

I have two pullets, an EE and a Blue Australorp, that just turned 24 weeks and the australorp just started laying. I’ve been trying to prevent that by making sure they don’t get too much artificial light since I don’t want them laying over the winter ideally; they are pets too. There are some...

    Button quail couple fighting.

I reintroduced them slowly but the female attacked the male as soon as I put them together. She chased him and they both made a panicked sound that I’ve never heard before so I separated them again. They cry for each other during the day so I’m not sure what to do. Any help? Idk maybe this is...

    Button quail couple fighting.

I’ve never seen them mate, which is weird because I’ve spent a lot of time around them, more than the coturnix I have. When I had male coturnix I saw it all the time even though I was around them less. Well, I have them separated for now. I’m going to change the cage in a few days and try to...

    Button quail couple fighting.

It seems like my couple are having issues. In the last few weeks my female stopped laying eggs which is weird but I figured it was because I changed their cage and moved it from the kitchen into my room. I had also noticed both the male and female had some feathers ruffled on the back of their...

    New baby coturnix! Color identification?

I want sure if she was a wild type because her little legs are so dark and her skin was mostly black when she hatched. Thank you! The heat pad is set up like the mother brooder on here. I incubated five of the first eggs my quail laid. Only two turned out fertile but they both hatched out. I...

    New baby coturnix! Color identification?

I’ve had two of two hatch out of a homemade incubator! What color will the dark one be as an adult? The mother is a light colored wild type and the father was a wild type or a tuxedo. I’ve been having luck using a heat pad with a towel on top in the brooder. Much safer than a heat lamp.

    Smaller Coturnix?

I got 12 quail that were a week old and I had one runt. She caught up to the rest and is doing fine now!

    Ameraucana or Easter Egger?

Great! I heard they were really good layers. It will be exciting to see what color she ends up laying.

    Ameraucana or Easter Egger?

I figure there is a 99% chance she is an EE, just curious! Got her from Concord Feed in Dublin. The other chick was listed as a Blue Australorp.

    Button quail help?!

I’m not sure of the age, I believe they were about three months old when I got them so about five months now. I’ll give it time see how it goes! Thanks!

    Button quail help?!

I have a pair of button quail who are a male/female pair but I don’t seem to be getting fertile eggs from them. They sleep next to each other and I have seen the male sit on the female’s eggs but I have put several in an incubator and gotten no development and they seem to be infertile but...

Bay Area, CA - Two Coturnix Roo - 8 weeks

I got these quail at two weeks old and I’m starting to identify the males. I have two for sure right now and they are free to good home! Would prefer they not be culled! I’m in the Bay Area and I can meet you in the Livermore/Dublin/Pleasanton Area for pick up. First two pics are first male...

Button quail egg, fertile? My couple aren’t a couple?

I’m in the East Bay, Pleasanton. I don’t have any eggs on hand but should have a couple in a few days if you want them.

Button quail egg, fertile? My couple aren’t a couple?

It’s hard to see but it doesn’t look like the egg is fertile to me. I’ve been trying to hatch several eggs from this pair and I haven’t been able to figure out if it’s my homemade incubator that’s stopping development or if they aren’t fertile to begin with! They sleep next to each other, they...
