Drained a Hen's Abdomen.. Rest in Peace, Olivia 11-5-10

Thanks for the clarification! My chicken definently had an infection of some sort as her belly was very hot and bloated for the past couple of days. I cant imagine she didnt have an infection with all that heat. She seems to be doing better since the antibiotic injections (breathing better but...

    Hen's Leg Swelling

Aww. That must have been somewhat traumatic to find feet in the coop not attached to a bird! Glad that she seems okay though now. Wonder if it was some bacteria that attacked her "shins" or an autoimmune disorder. If it is gout, I would stay away from certain foods. Not sure what feed you use...

My bird is going through this issue currently and the vet prescribed her 2 days worth of 1cc of baytril (unsure of strength) thinking that she had pmeumonia. She does...

Chicken stomach and feet hot, possible pertonitis, diagnosed by vet with pneumonia, please help!

The vet assured me that I would only need two days worth but I think he was going off of a diagnosis of pneumonia and figured if she didn't get better off of 2 days worth than she wasn't going to get better at all. In your opinion, do you think it would be wise to try to give her another...

Chicken stomach and feet hot, possible pertonitis, diagnosed by vet with pneumonia, please help!

Hen is an 18 month old barred rock, resides with 7 other hens and one large (over 10 lb rooster) along with one hen and rooster in adjacent coop. All chickens came from offspring of original chicks purchased from a livestock store (similar to tractor supply) about 5 years ago (i.e. no new...
