Looks similar to my wyandottes

I've already realized that for my short time here.

We thought this was one of our americaunas but it's face/neck just isn't pudgy like our others. We are supposed to have sexlinks amerucaunas and wyandottes any guess what this one is? (4 months old)

That is why I joined BYC, everytime i googled something I found the answer right here, figured I might as well join.

yes, that is exactly what I saw, the saddle feathering. we don't have any older roosters we do have a neighbor and we can occasionally hear their rooster but they're pretty far away.

also we have had no crowing at all yet.

Can you explain the saddle feathering? I think that is what had me thinking they were indeed males but I'm not sure of the terminology

The one in the background of the first picture is "Dotty" I put "Dotty" and "not Dotty" on them so it is easier to tell them apart. They do look very similar and I am fairly sure they are both males. Also, I already REALLY enjoy this site :) Thank you!

I was under the impression that once they learn to lay in their nest boxes that is where they will always lay. Is this not the case? My mother in law leaves hers in the run until they are well established with laying in their nest boxes. Once she feels they will only lay in their designated area...

Oh, I meant to ask, what time if day do they usually lay or does it vary from chicken to chicken?

We've been thinking we had all pullets and have been looking into getting a rooster I was just out visiting the chickens and noticed his"?" Feathers looked different from the other glw's.
