Just looked at him, and it looks like it’s cleared up, whatever it was. I can see through now. Can ducks just get nosebleeds like humans do? He just doesn’t seem to be sick and it looks like it was just dried blood blocking it.
Ok I will check him again today. And yes they have a little tub they can swim and dunk in. He’s acting normal, but I know sometimes they can hide their discomfort.
I went to pick up my drake today, and I noticed he had blood collected around his nostrils. Checked him out and the inside of his nose was bloody too. Also couldn't see through to the other side like normally. Went out and took pictures a little later, and he had already washed the blood off...
He said they would be disolvable and we would only have to bring her back if we thought something was wrong. I just worry bc the top part looks dry like that and there's a gap that I can see in. On another note, should I bring her inside for cold or rainy days till she regrows her feathers.
Looking to update and for opinion. I'm posting a picture of her injury. She went outside a few days ago, and has been getting around well. The wound is dried out, however, above the stitches has opened up, and is still discolored. Just wanted to see if it was still healing or if it looked...
Didn't say much, they showed us how to give antibiotics, I think she pooped yesterday. She was drinking a lot the first day before the vet but not as much now.
Another update, she seems to be still doing well, but I was wondering about ideas to encourage her to eat more. I've tried her feed, mealworms, and peas, and plan on making her eggs later. She just kind of nibbles on the peas and I can't tell if she's touched her feed.
She has been brought in to the vet and he agrees it needs to be amputated. It will be done today. For anyone else looking for advice on this, as I couldn't find anything myself, the estimate was about 500$, less than I thought. It was also less than it was for my ducks injuries. I will update...
