Musical whistle at this this point is not a good sign. Tho the bill colors suggest one of each gender, the musical whistles indicate you might have 2 drakes there. I can hear (faintly) the deeper 'quack' noise you mentioned but that doesn't sound like a quack to me.
That's the case with my...
She's sitting on her empty nest (I collect eggs every day, dunno how on earth she got broody).
She's not supposed to have a nest there, I fenced that area out long ago.
This is how she returns from her nest to her friends, by jumping and crossing the deck.

Out of 9 detached and 3 attached, 3 of the detached and 2 of the attached hatched.
3/9 for detached, 5 were goners by day 14 or so, 1 died because it couldn't complete internal pip.
2/3 for attached.
I once saw a video of rice farmers in Japan using ducks to eat pests off the paddies, but growing your own rice doesn't sound like an economical idea, and I don't think they give the ducks access to the rice at all stages of growth anyway.
The only plants my ducks don't destroy are sturdy...
Was that for me? No there's none that I'm aware of. I'm right next to a noisy school so I doubt anyone can complain about my ducks' noise here. (well they do scream on Sunday while school doesn't, but still no complaint that I'm aware of)
She suddenly just got up and walked now this morning! Once one of her clutch-mates stopped eating for 4 days then returned to normal as if nothing ever happened, a mysterious illness indeed. And now we have it again with this duck who due to a mysterious illness couldn't walk for a day but then...
She's been eating duck feed since hatch. I can't find any bumblefoot.
She's unfolded her feet now, but still couldn't get up. I've separated her since someone on another forum suggested duck plague. I'll take her to the vet tomorrow if it doesn't get better.
I'm trying to find out what's wrong. She suddenly can't walk and just scoots around when she tries to move.
Her feet are folded to the back and she just puts weight on the ankles when she tries to get up to reach the big water bowl.
additional information : She and her 2 clutch-mates have...
Not to say it is it but my pekin sometimes lay 2 eggs a day (even often when she just started laying), the second one being laid in the late afternoon, soft and rubbery. Other days she lays 1 egg every day. She lays more than my runners. Point is some ducks are just overly fertile.
I have 4 ducks, 1 pekin and 3 runners. 2 of the runners I can pet all the time, and another let me pet her sometimes. The pekin not only lets me pet her but also thinks I'm her mate. They all like to hang around me when I'm out in the yard with them.
She stopped eating again on Sunday, so today I took her to the vet first thing in the morning. The vet couldn't find anything wrong with her so she only prescribed antibiotics and some vitamins. I thought I'd have to resign into losing her only to come back home and find that she can now eat...
She ate 2 mouthfuls of feed at 8:30 am, 4 at 11, 4 at 1 pm, then I saw her pooped properly at 4:30 pm, and then she ate 8 more mouthfuls at 6:45 pm.
Seeing the proper poop for the 1st time in days I suppose she's getting better. The egg last night could indeed be hers. I'm keeping a close...
