She is beautiful!!! Thank you for sharing!! I will be dna testing to figure out the gender because I hate waiting . I’ll have to grab pictures of the parents next time I see my friend and post them because the parents are VERY CUTE!!
Just picked up this chick my friend hatched this year, mom is a brownish reddish Silkie and dad is a black frizzle silkie. Aged around 6 months , single comb some feathering on the feet no wattle growth. What do you think it should be labeled as, frizzle sizzle satin?
She should be fine. If she was introduced with others and they had some time to adjust, since it can be difficult to just add one chicken to an existing flock especially a young one will just get picked on. I just had to divide my Silkie chicks this year a couple times and was left with a roo...
I agree with your post about being vocal when trying to lay. My bantam Cochin started laying again after being broody for a while this summer and I put her in the nesting boxes back and forth and it helps a little but yes I think that they are more vocal when trying to lay.
Yes mine is the same and she sees me in the windows or hears the garage open or the dogs bark and start yelling . She was always kinda mouthy but lately she’s been just extra.
I have the same thing with only one of my chickens and she’s top pecking order the others are so quiet but today I let them out early since I’m off work and she ran around the yard screeching. Neighbors to the right of me are psycho hate all animals we all have minimum 1/2 acre lot but she is...
The black or blue not sure exactly what color she is the pullet while the white you can see how “slicked back” his feathers on his head are now and how his “bump” the comb is growing in comparison of the two photos. I thought I had better saved but there videos and I’m not sure how to post...
I also have 2 silkies 5 months old now. and the pullet has almost no comb, more V shaped near the comb very round poofy feathers on her head while my roo just recently sprouted a bump less than 2 weeks ago and more U shaped above and his feathers are not rounded on his head but looks more...
I’m also switching to sand, I had mulch and with February being so cold I added too many bags of animal bedding and now it’s all mixed in the mulch . I would check out pea gravel , different names depending where you look. I am having some delivered since I am adding it around my fire pit and...
I had the best pair of RIR last year raising chicks and it was so fun! It was my first time too and I was promised pullets but for a long time I thought one was a roo because her development and attitude was so sassy just from a few days old. Once you figure that breed you will have a much...
I have 5 bantam chicks that I have bought from Meyer Hatchery and they were labeled as straight run grab bag bantam assortment. I am unsure of the breeds and genders , well I have ideas but maybe someone can help?? 6/30/20 the chicks were received and labeled as day old chicks and they shipped...
