    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

Not at the moment. I just thought an epsom salt soak for a few minutes might help if I ever needed to help them in a pinch. I've given them baths before to clean them off, but only when their fluffy butts were a mess.

    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

His crop burst open from a piece of metal festering in his crop. It was awful, but he recovered for the most part.

    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

I offer grit, chicken pellets, dried meal worms, and anything they forage for. They mostly forage all day. Oh okay. I thought it would be good for if my girls got egg bound or they experienced leg issues that stress them out.

    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

Yeah, I have some epsom salts for myself but I didn't think those would be safe for my chickens. Too fancy for them. I'll be sure to look for the plain stuff!

    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

He frequently gets impactions. I'm not sure why, but he did go through a traumatic crop injury which I'm thinking may have a lot to do with it. His crop drains slow and sometimes food gets stuck in there.

    What Brand of Epsom Salts?

Hi BYC community! I have been reading up on epsom salts and the many ways one can use them for chickens who are ill. I would like to treat my flock to a spa treatment and give them epsom salt baths when they are stressed. What brands do y'all recommend? I'm also thinking about administering some...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

Another update for those interested in my roosters progress. So, the antibiotic and a strong dewormer seemed to have done the trick. He also got some motility medicine to stimulate his digestive system, which also seemed to help. His crop has started to function like normal. He's been emptying...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

Another update. I think my rooster might be fighting off some kind of infection. After looking at his scan the vet noticed he has an enlarged spleen (which helps support immune function) and his upper gi tract seems to be constricted. I'm thinking it might be due to inflammation. I've got an...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

Sorry for my long absence, but here is an update. So, his mouth didn't smell like sour milk, but it did smell like rotten eggs. I tried some more of the suggestions on the articles posted but they weren't working. His comb started to turn black and he was regurgitating gunk. So I took him to the...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

His breath stinks, but not like sour milk. It kind of smells like the veg oil, but that's probably because he just had some.

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

I have a temporary crop bra that I can put on him. I have a better one coming in the mail soon. I'll see if that helps, it can't hurt right? After reading some of the articles posted, I'm thinking it's either an impacted/sour crop or a doughy crop. Looks like I'm going to the store to pick up...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

He's actually a rooster. He is about 9 months old. I'll try coconut oil. I've tried using olive/veg oil and then massaging the crop, but it doesn't seem to be working. His crop has deflated quite a bit, but there is still a small squishy lump that kind of feels like a wad of straw. I'm not...

    Impacted Crop (Crop Surgery)

Hi BYC community. I have a chicken with an impacted crop. I've been trying to get the impaction to pass, but I'm having a hard time. Massaging the crop and a mild laxative called Dulcolax aren't working. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I think I'm getting to the point where crop surgery...

    Anyone Breeding Pure Australorps?

Hi BYC community! I'm looking for someone who lives relatively close to Lithia Florida and is breeding pure Australorps. Does anyone fit that bill or know where I might be able to acquire a chick? I'm looking to add a new black hen to my flock.
