    Chick on day 41, help!

IMO looks like shrink wrapping. You need to keep that inner membrane from drying out. Try doing some searching on this site for treatments for shrink wrap.

    Sexing Easter Egger chicks

I thought some pics might help explain. All the same age.

    Sexing Easter Egger chicks

I have 18 2 week old Easter Egger/BYM chicks. They are for sale but I would like to keep some if they are pullets. Is there any reliability to the 'wing test'. Although there is a variety of colours, 8 of them have distinctly longer wings already reaching their butts. Could they be females...

That was a crazy few days in Eastern Ontario. Thankfully did not lose power as I also have eggs in incubators. Snow storm, rain, and now +12 today. In the path of the total eclipse tomorrow. No wonder egg laying has been hit and miss

Does touching the eggs hurt them?

I use a pencil to mark date. I also mark things like X and O on opposite sides to ensure they are properly turned.

    Ducklings jumping in water

Best to use a water source that they can dunk their heads in but not be able to climb into.

    Treats

IMO ducklings should be several months old before getting treats. Even then, treats should be only a very small portion of their diet. Would a child rather eat candy than vegetables. lol. Other treats can be slowly introduced to see if they like them. Other peoples' ducks love peas and mine...

    Angry Bird

So I know not a duck, but this is my usual forum so I thought I would share. My spare room is the brooder room for the summer. I think this chick is adorable but should be named Angry Bird.

How many duck eggs did you get today?

Several times, last year, I would find an egg in their water bowl as I emptied it at the end of the day. I use the large size gravity-fed systems meant for big dogs. Once I would credit to accidental deposit. Multiple times takes more backing-up, and adjustments skills than I would have given...

How many duck eggs did you get today?

My Muscovies tend to co-brood. Double the trouble to try and reach under 2 of them when they pile up.

How many duck eggs did you get today?

Consistently getting 6 a day from my Muscovies. They better keep that up as I have eggs to be picked up on Wednesday (need 2 more) and Saturday, that haven't actually been laid yet. lol I know ... Don't count your chickens ....

How many duck eggs did you get today?

That's what I wanted as well. When I was getting 6 - 7 a day during our fake spring, I posted them for sale instead. Now that winter has returned, and I have orders for 4 dozen, only getting 3 a day. Come on duckies - I'm 8 eggs short and pick up is Saturday.
