Hi all..well we finished our 2012 show season ..Cody did real well with JR Champion Featherleg with Buttons his white hen,,,he also got RB with his black hen...there were 20 silkies there in JR...18 were his but we met and hopefully made a few more silkie enthusiasts...got to chat with Jenny...

That is a cool idea with the clear plastic...ask me how many times Codys silkies have had call ducks behind them and one thing people do with ducks is spray them with water and though good for a duck there is nothing good about having a spritzed silkie just before judging starts...like the idea...

So sorry Jessy that you lost your chicks...they are so fragile... Wry neck well I think it can be genetic and if you have a vaulted skull a properly aimed peck can cause wry neck and sometimes ear infections/irritations can cause wry neck too...i would suspect genetic if you gat a lot of chicks...

I have George blacks...some leak red and I still use them. The pullets are the deepest black i have ever seen. I also have purchased stock from a line which has no leakage in its male line. But since personally I breed for show pullets I will continue to use my red hackled blacks to make those...

Its just a normal auction place ..im sure theres one in Kansas somewhere but if you can get $5 a piece of Craiglist go that way...my friend lives down there so we went to vist and dropped the birds off at the auction...some probably went for eating and others to backyard flocks...but at least...

Yes thats why we chose silkies as our main show bird as they can go on for many years and often they improve with some age too!!!..I hope we can still take ours to shows at 8 1/2 years kudos to you for having a show champion at that age. I still havent found that white kitty litter yet.

HI Nankins do not have bluish legs,,,it is a very light olive tone with a thin red line running down the centre of the outside of the shank..you can tell if you have a pure nankin by checking the leg colors and if they dont have this then they are a crossbreed. Hope this helps you out as nankins...

I dont really know of any top breeder who kill off their show birds rather than sell them...i know we will sell extras we own and yes they can beat my son but thats our choice...i do sell pet quality birds as some people have no interest in showing and want a cute bird. without paying the bigger...

Yes he is correct...i have a Catdance blue male too and he is a similar color won RV blue at the JRs Silkie Nationals last year at Crossroads ....Catdance has really nice stock!
