These are a few of my girls (a couple months ago), they are Red Sex Links.
Now I am wondering if I should change their food to laying feed instead of this organic chick starter (no meds included) that I just bought last week.
My girls are only 15 weeks. I didn't expect them to start laying this soon, but I had a nesting box in the coop just in case, and an egg just happened to be in there today! I wish I knew which girl it came from. . . . .Now what do I do with it? I'm afraid to eat it!
I carry around a broom and keep it by my side when I am walking in the yard with my rooster. I don't ever hit him with it, but sometimes have to push him or nudge him out of my way with it. He knows to stay back when I have the broom. It's weird that he's not aggressive at all in the coop, just...

I was wondering the same thing when mine started a few weeks ago, and that is what they do to mate. He does it all the time now! I feel sorry for the poor girls, doesn't look fun.
She has been the same all day today, just standing, looking tired and closing her eyes alot.
I did see her move over to the water and take 1 drink.
I really don't know what to do, there are so many diseases, and I am just stressed out about it.
Hopefully it will pass and she'll be better in...
One of my 14wk old girls is being very still, standing facing the wall of the coop and not making any noises. I noticed this last night and didn't think much of it until I saw her again this am. Normally they run from me or make lots of noises when I pick them up, but she didn't do any of that...
So my roo is 12 weeks, and so are his 6 girlfriends. I just noticed he is being more aggressive towards them like pecking them on thier head/neck area for what appears to be no reason, just when they are out in their run. The girls will squak and run away from him when he does this. No blood...
I have the same issue, lots of feathers everywhere in the coop, 7 birds total and same age as yours, 12 weeks. I figured they were still losing their baby feathers, but some of these are big feathers too.
Well it's been two days now and she hasn't been here, so I am hoping that means she is back with her owner. I had to take down the bird feeder because something was getting into it at night and spilling all the seed all over the ground, completely empty. It worries me that it was a raccoon! Now...
So for the last 4 days this peahen has been hanging out at my house, and I know nothing about them. No one in the area seems to know who it belongs to. I'm just wondering what I should do with it. Should I feed it? She seems hungry always under the birdfeeder pecking around, then roams over the...

I have a heat lamp I turn on at night for them. I think I've been trying to get them in too early though, before it is dark enough. Lately it hasn't been getting dark until 8pm or later.
My 10 wk old chicks just moved into their coop outside this week and I only left them inside for 2 days before letting them out into their covered run area.
Well now everytime I try getting them back in at night, they all run out of the coop, so I can't close the door that connects the inside...

Mine get alone well most of the time. If you haven't had the peafowl penned up for several months, you would need to do so before letting them free-range with your chickens. Peafowl will roam a LONG way sometimes, especially if they are new to your farm and don't know where "home" is...
I have 2 white ones, one is male one is female. Then I have 5 brownish ones, all female. They are 10 weeks old. Just wondering if they look like any breed in particular.
1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am very new to chickens, and constantly coming on the internet to look up information. My chicks are 10 weeks old now, we got them when they were a day old.
2) How many chickens do you have right now?
I have one male and 6...
