Thank you. I asked the seller, whonhatched the eggs. She said they hatched from blue eggs. She asked the breeder she got the eggs from who said they were Ameraucana, but maybe there was miscommunication with the spelling being so close. I'll have to watch them grow up and see what they...
I was sold two Blue Americauna chicks a couple days ago. They look very different obviously, the darker one looks to be right, but is the brown one actually an Ameraucana chick? Has anyone had one this color before?

Here's the finished coop! Hubby and I worked hard on this thing and we're really happy and proud of it.
This is the front. There is a man door for the run under the "She Shed" sign.
This is the back. The coop door opens fully to easily clean out bedding and access the whole coop. We can even...
What would you recommend putting in this heated pet bowl? It's big, but too small for a 5 gallon bucket. Our metal waterer won't fit either. I want to keep debris out and maybe store more water somehow.
Any suggests and pictures would be great! Thanks.
I haven't updated this thread since July! We've been busy! We sold our house in August and are busy building a new one.
We returned two of our birds because they were roosters, which left us with four pullets. They're about 28 weeks now and still haven't laid any eggs despite supplemental...
My vote is cockerel as well. The waddles and saddle feathers are very pronounced. I have a 12 week old Polish cross for comparison, she has no waddle growth or colour and no saddle feathers.
I have no idea what breed these boys are. They both have feathered feet. I've been scratching my head since I got them. They are about 12 weeks now. I was thinking maybe Black Birchen Marans.
I used to have a lot of fish tanks, I was thinking of using one of my aquarium heaters set to 75'F. That or the feed store down the road sells heated waterers.
I'll probably leave the door open continuously while the weather is still warm, but I live in Canada, so I'll have to close it the winter. I could always move it indoors during the winter.
I was thinking food inside the coop to keep it dry and water outside, but will they be okay without access to water while they're inside for the night?
Hey everyone, my husband and I have been building our first coop this weekend and I've been thinking about where I'm going to put everything. I've seen some people hanging their food and water only in the run or in the coop, or water outside and food inside. I'm interested to see what all of you...
I am a nurse. When dealing with necrotic tissue, it's best to keep it as dry as possible. Betadine/Povidone Iodine is great for this. I would paint the whole wound with it once daily and wrap it in clean, dry gauze to prevent it from coming in contact with any outside bacteria/pathogens.
Were...
