I noticed just now that our roo's comb is turing slightly black at the end. Hes a black australorp and his comb has been red for 2 years now but today I noticed the end furthest from his head seems to be turning a black color...any advice etc?

ok so we have our 12 2week olds in a 2' by 3' metal dog crate. It worked for the first week but I am thinking it is too small for them as they grow, now I have another one that matches but I am not sure if seperating them into two side by side crates like that will cause problems when I move...
I am guessing this is the correct forum to post this question..we are currently brooding our chicks indoors with pine shavings but our coop and run are floored in sand...do I need to break the chicks in slowly (i.e. putting shavings in the coop on top of the sand at first) or simply drop and run...
