With a bator so small you could probably unplug it really quick and plug it into a bathroom outlet if they have externally piped. Turn on hot water in shower and steam up the room before you open it. That would be plenty of humidity I would think. Do what you need to do and close the top.
Guess we should have left the egg alone, it was viable or at least starting to develop. 😒
We took out two eggs that looked not to be fertile. One egg definitely wasn't but this egg had development.
Our Maran didn't start laying till after 8 months old but our production red's, RIR, and gold and black sex link started earlier than that.

Candling every other day..yes they are so full now about the only thing you can see is the air cell.
I have two thermometers and both were salt tested..the run about 3% lower than reading when salt tested.
Our first hatch we didn't do bad, but we had late quitters and only one that didn't make...
So I see a few post about hatching in cartons...
From what I was getting is that if you use a "turner'' that the eggs are on their sides then hatch them on their sides...if using a "rocker" style then place them in cut down egg carton to hatch in.
This is supposed to be because of the location...
We feed eggshell on the side because some of our hens really don't care for the pellets or the crumble they scattered it about and pick through it but they will eat the shell.
Picky I guess 🤷
Then again they free range all day also
So the wife and I have some chicks that are about to hatch and I was looking for a chick waterer that hung.. we always had so much stuff in the waterer if it set on the brooder floor... Instead of buying one I repurposed an old hummingbird feeder and did this...
Works like a charm and no $ spent lol
Thanks for the info, that's what I'm doing now, they sat at room temperature for 24 hrs and then put in one of the incubators, once they are warmed up to incubator temperature I will transfer them to the other incubator that has the turner/rocker so that they don't upset the temperature- other...
