Yea I noticed that too! She was a very pretty color and as the Summer went on she started to get a bit dusty colored. Chickens usually molt after there first year right? Well Wisteria isn't even a year old yet. But I heard that after brooding they will go into a molt, I wonder if she will since...
Awe thanks! I really like them too! This is my first time owning Lav's but they are slowly becoming one if my favorites. I did have two but lost one due to laying issues. I definitely want to ad more. I'm very partial to the Lavender/Grey color of them. Some say it's boring...but I think its...
I HAD to add another one of my Lav Orp Wisteria, this is just one of my favorite pictures. They were definitely enjoying the warm 70° weather yesterday!
Here some pictures! I let them enjoy the nice weather yesterday. And Amanita had to come see the babies. She is one of the biological mothers that so gladly donated an egg for Wisteria to hatch 😅
Mamma Wisteria (Lav Orp) taking a rest in the garden after i pulled the rest if the veggies. If ya look closely one of her two Babies poking it's head out above her wing. They are 5 days old a Black Australorp/ Barnevelder crosses.
I suppose there isn't really much to the naming of my birds. Except that I have a theme of naming after plants, trees, and a few randos like Blanch and Pidgy 😅 I am on this tree and mushroom trend though. I let my Lav Orp (Wisteria) hatch out one of my Black Australorp eggs (Amanita) so I was...
It's ok we all get busy! Yes it was somewhat of a bummer. The first one I take full responsibility for. I feel awful. The second idk it just was taking forever to hatch and maybe she just wanted to focus on those that hatched?? I'm very happy how well she is taking to them being a first timer...
Hahaha I'm trying to. It's been chilly out so she is keeping them stuffed under her. Even to the point where she gets closer to the food and water and they just poke there little heads out from under her to eat/drink. It's adorable. I will get some pictures!
So I lost two out of the 4. Mamma rejected one that I think was taking to long to hatch. Found it thrown out of the nest and wasn't even dried out. But the other two are still doing great. The two little Barnevelder/Black Australorps crosses are apparently the ones. They're super cute and look...
ITS EARLY! I had two that have already hatched! Sadly I lost one already, it fell out of the nest box and I think the others pecked it. So now I'm sitting in the coop to make sure everyone else is OK while o set up the cage. I know I should have already had it set up but work has blindsided me...
Thank you so much! I'm so excited! First time mom is VERY dedicated to her eggs. She'll even reach her head around the divder to the other nesting boxes and try and snatch other eggs. Although she can't reach she won't get off the nest unless I take her off to eat, drink, poop, and a quick dust...
Well I know this doesn't have to do with my broody, but I did mention I was making my coworkers wedding cake. And we'll here it is!!! Was successful! Hard work paid off 😊

So guys, here I am with 9 six month old chickens. And this young girl right here a Lavender Orpington Wisteria has gone broody. And to my extreme persistence has refused to break from her broodiness. I have tried everything, she just WON'T quit. So I gave up and slipped four eggs...
Hahaha that's awesome, sounds like a Character. 🤣 I'd know this is off the thread topic but I'd love to see a picture if you got one 😁 well I guess it isn't off topic really it is about broodies after all😂
