my hens are 8 months to 14 months. We are in the desert and don't have standing water but had mosquitoes this summer because of the monsoons. I could not even go outside without getting bit. Only my one roo has scabs no one else shows anything yet but his comb is covered with them. I will take...
I cannot find any information on if I can vaccinate a laying hen for fowl pox??? I may have it on one of my roos and want to vaccinate everyone. Mosquitoes were bad this year. It says to vac at least 4 weeks prior to laying. So what is to be done for laying hens?? Anything?
I have found in the past, that waiting until it gets dark and they have gone to bed is best time to put them together. When they wake up in the morning they seem to think it has always been that way.. If you are worried you can set an alarm and be there in the morning when the wake up to observe...

They help keep a watchful eye on them and dispatch mice or occassional small snakes when they come around to invade the paddock
I too do not have experience with roll out boxes. My hens will have bottom nest with Bermuda grass. I have it set up so if one goes broody I won't have to move her. Their nesting boxes are under the poopdeck and roost. I hope someone is able to help with this. Still welcome to the group for you...
