I have read that if you wash an egg when you get it from the hen it washed off the protective layer on the eggs that keeps bacteria out of it. Is this true and should I not be washing the egg? I guess if you dont wash it when you get it you should wash it before you use it correct?

When should chicks start roosting for the night. Mine have been in the big coop for a month now and still sleep on the floor of it. They are able to get up on the roosts but dont stay long. I have two full size hens and only one of them sleeps on the roost. I am just wondering if she is not...
