The same thing happened to by flock. Killed about 12 chickens over the course of a couple of weeks. Put up trail cameras outside of our pen and it was racoons. Killed in the same gruesome way (Head eaten but not much else).

Thank you for responding. That seems to be the general consensus. I would like to save money but the quality of meat is important to me. I think I will educate myself on the best way to do home harvesting and try it myself in the future.

Does anyone know of a place in the Northwest Georgia/Northeast Alabama area that processes chickens for individuals? Chicken from the store has gotten so expensive and I lack the knowledge or really the will to slaughter chickens at home, but would be willing to pay someone to processes them...
I have always loved chickens, but have only recently (the last year or so), been able to get a coop and actually care for them. I am excited to learn about my chickens and their care from other newbies and the more experienced chicken folk here. :)
