My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

I don't really think she does this for the birds benefit, either. The defining moment for me was late summer--I use to view her as a friend, and would ask if she needed any chickens (back before she had seven hundred) when I went to a show or swap. She told me some sad story about the raccoon...

My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

I think the born free live free die thing might be it, but she's also a doctor--I get subtle (or not so subtle) god complex undertones. I remember her telling me once in the spring that it was "no one's business how many chickens she has". This was before the chickens started wandering though...

My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

I understand where you're coming from, but of the 10 houses on this street or immediately adjacent on the next street within earshot, four of them have chickens and a rooster (one neighbor has two roosters--but you don't see them running by down the street). It's never been an issue, but also no...

My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

I don't understand--does one not qualify for NPIP if there are nuisance chickens about? I am NPIP. These chickens never come into contact with mine (they have tried to run into my garage when the door has been open and they've heard me filling feed buckets though). Could this make me lose NPIP?

My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

Her husband is a welder by trade, and they are pretty industrious as a couple--They build all kinds of stuff, and I've seen pics of the coop he single handedly built her for when they chickens before moving here, in another state (and it had a top on the run). I don't think the notion of...

My neighbor lets her chickens free range my yard constantly?

I moved into my house a year ago, and this neighbor (we'll call her "Jane") moved in just months after, next door. I live on an acre and a half, and all of my chickens are secured in their run with wire of the top. I do this to protect them from predators, and from just wandering. Jane got her...

Lost an entire batch of chicks and nothing I did saved them

They sell all their other colors as chicks and eggs, haven't ever had an issue. It's just this color they aren't selling yet bc they are building up their program. The other thing is everything i've read is MG is highly susceptible to Denagard/Novartis, tiamulin hydrogen fumarate--if that was...

Lost an entire batch of chicks and nothing I did saved them

No, I know a local vet that does chicken necropsies (my initial cemani roo had heart failure), but they are so tiny there's not much to see, and they're $100 a necropsy.

Lost an entire batch of chicks and nothing I did saved them

Thank you, I appreciate it. My basement has been chick hospice for the last week. They were on puppy pads (what I've been using for my cemani), in a rubbermaid tub. Brooder was in the same place for the last month, which is also where he (cemani) had been living and was fine, so I don't think it...

Lost an entire batch of chicks and nothing I did saved them

I'm going to try to be as vague as possible because it's a small world. Since I was a child, i've always wanted a very rare particular color of silkie. They're very hard to come by, and now, finally at 30 years old, I met someone with gorgeous stock who lives about an hour from me. She...
