Almost 6 weeks - Coop ready?

They have an Ecoglow heat plate in the brooder, but don't really spend much time under it anymore. I'll shut it off and let them get used to no heat in the brooder over the weekend. Thank you!

Almost 6 weeks - Coop ready?

Our ladies are almost 6 weeks. The weather is finally getting nice enough that the coolest it will be in the upcoming weeks is in the low-mid 50s. Do they look ready to move to the outside coop? There is no extra heat in the coop.

    Introducing chicks at different ages

I'm glad other people had the same question and were able to get some great advice. After talking it over with Mr. Dagnabbit, we decided to just keep the 3 we have now and get some more chicks next year. He seemed a little bit disappointed not have more soft little peepers around, which is...

    Introducing chicks at different ages

After some failure to thrive, we have 3 remaining that are 6 days old. We are wondering whether to keep going with only these 3 until they can move to the coop or introduce some more chicks to bring the numbers back up. Would the 3 older ones accept some 1-2 day old chicks? Or would we be...

    Prefab options?

I thought that would probably be the case, but it was worth checking. I'll tell him we should wait until we can build something nice.

    Prefab options?

We're in central Oklahoma, so we get harsh summers and harsh winters as well as high winds. I'll do some research on hoop coops. Thanks!

    Prefab options?

My father in law plans to start keeping chickens this spring, and yesterday he called me super excited about finding a jumbo quail breeder near us. So now he wants a covey for company too. (He's so cute, I love him!) He isn't interested in having to build anything from scratch this year, so I...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Thank you so much for the advice! I am buying for egg production and my father in law is looking for dual purpose (and I think he's secretly hoping for a sweet cuddly bird for company when he works in the garden). We found a couple farms on Facebook that are near us and have good prices, but...

***OKIES in the BYC III ***

My father in law told me he wants to start keeping chickens and I got so excited he offered to buy a coop for me as well. I can't wait to start our flocks! We want to get pullets instead of chicks or eggs so we can get them in the coops asap. Where in OKC do y'all recommend going for pullets...

New to forum and new to birds! (Oklahoma)

Mr. Dagnabbit made the mistake of saying he would like "a couple" of bird. That could be 2, or 4, or 6....right?
