First time chicken owner here. My 1ish year old silkie hen dropped a very pale yellow runny poop this morning and I'm not sure if I should be concerned. She seems to be acting normal, but after having lost 2 girls to Marek's, I'm paranoid. Thoughts?
Funny enough it's primarily a bantam flock with only one standard size hen, who's a sweet Ameraucana. The only issue is with the d'uccle, who's the smallest one but the only bully.
For the peepers, I'm concerned about the prongs being too big to fit into her nares at all. It looks like may have...
Are there pinless peepers for bantam chickens?
I have a flock of 5 hens that are all about 7 months old now and have been together since about 2 months of age. One of the hens, a mille fleur d'uccle is constantly chasing my submissive silkie. I've tried adding more clutter to the run for...
Thank you for the reassurance! Yes, I ultimately caved and put the bully in a crate (see attached pic). My girl that was being bullied has been out, roaming, scratching around, and happy as can be ever since. For the next few days while the bully is in jail I'll be rearranging and adding more...

Agreed, reading through everything I could find I thought it might be pecking order behavior, but I feel terrible for my poor hen that's constantly hiding inside the coop.
I'm having a similar concern with my flock. I have 5 hens in a 9x12 foot run with plenty of perches and toys, including a peck block. But I have one hen in particular that regularly chases one of the other hens around. When she catches her she pecks her maybe once or twice, but it never results...
I had a hen pass away a few weeks ago and just received her necropsy report. She had succumbed to Marek's even though she and the rest of the flock were vaccinated upon hatching (so we were promised by the hatchery). This was unexpected even though I know the vaccine isn't 100% effective, so now...
I have a flock of 8 chickens averaging about 9 weeks old. 5 of the chickens have been together since almost the beginning and are as tight as can be, eating, sleeping, and playing together. The other 3 came in a little later in when everyone was around 6 weeks old and seemed to immediately flock...
Hi! First time chicken owner here. I have 5 chicks ranging from 5-8 weeks in age and I want to add 2 more around the same age to complete my flock. I've had the current chicks since the youngest was a few days old, they have all received the Marek's vaccine, and they've been kept in an indoor...
