Theres like, a buncha ducks over here...questions

Ah, well, I am going to need door number 3 then. I most certainly couldn't intentionally cull ducks that I intentionally raised by hand. The older ones are the ones I know the best. And the ones I can tell apart by their voices and quirks. Relocation of the younger ones, that's more my speed. 🤷‍♀️

Theres like, a buncha ducks over here...questions

Do I start picking up eggs? I have a friend who will take a few for her pond. The only thing I worry about with trapping and relocation is they have established groups and I don't want to take from different groups....or does that even matter?

Theres like, a buncha ducks over here...questions

No complaints. The pond is half on outta property and half on the neighbors. They like the ducks. Lots of families with kids and they enjoy watching them. For now..... So last winter there were 8-10. The winter before, 4. Everyone does ok. They keep a section of the pond open if we have a hard...

Theres like, a buncha ducks over here...questions

They are all directly from the first 2. We only have had geese fly in and visit and then leave except for one who stayed with a set of babies back in May, the mother duck wasn't feeling motherhood and the goose raised them stuck around until about 2 weeks ago and then flew off. They are all...

Theres like, a buncha ducks over here...questions

Two questions, sort of related. I have had several duck sagas of which I have posted. I started with a pair of mallards from Rural King 2 years ago. Currently, the pond by my house in our residential neighborhood has 30 adult mallards and 8 week old babies. 2 susies are also on a nest. All...

Cervical Degloved Wild Goose **Graphic Images***

She literally laid down, stretched one leg out behind her, bowed her head and died. I'm hoping she felt safe. Or at least, no fear.

Cervical Degloved Wild Goose **Graphic Images***

Moved her/him into a dog crate. Sat it beside the ducks. I am off to work but I have the camera on them so I can watch for intruders. She is really weak. I think she must have been like this for days already. How she survived to wall to where she was found is unbelievable. We have very active...

Cervical Degloved Wild Goose **Graphic Images***

No wildlife rehabs. I AM the wildlife rehab. The lady called licensed facilities in 3 states no one would help. I typically do mammals and possums. But...that said....is it a possibility to put the goose in with the young ducks temporarily?

Cervical Degloved Wild Goose **Graphic Images***

A lady found a goose in her yard injured. No one would help, no body of water near, no origin. I picked it up and brought it home. Now it is just outside and drinking water. I have my 4 incubator hatched ducks (may 17) in a kennel secured with chicken wire and a top. Is it an option to put...

    Sleet Nest Duck Eggs

***PLOT TWIST*** Another set of Canadians showed up today with 8 balls of fluff. WHERE HAVE THEY BEEN?? The babies can't fly and we are in a neighborhood, so not many places to hide. 🤷‍♀️ So let's see..... 4 teenage ducks I incubated from the sleet nest, including one black one 2 ducklings...

Identified. Thanks! Need ID of eggs please-

I am a wildlife rehabilitator. I just don't get birds. The nest has been taken down from the original spot. I know enough to put it nearby so the mother can return, however, on the chance that she DOESNT return, I will give them a chance. We do not have avian rehabbers in this area.

Would like to ID these eggs, had to move nest a little bit and need to know if momma will come back and how long to incubate if necessary.

    Sleet Nest Duck Eggs

YES! I hatched the 3 expected mallards from the ice, and then one of my Susies(there are 4, the original mother and 3 adults that she hatched last year) had an initial group of 3 regular looking ones and the one little black one! So 2 different sets of the SAME outcome.... Except the "wild" ones...
